About Infrawatch

Infrawatch is building the infrastructure intelligence layer for the public internet.

We collect and analyse internet data to help organisations detect cyberattacks, fraud, scams, abuse, and malicious infrastructure.

Our platform processes more than 23.5 billion primary-source events every day across IP addresses, domains, DNS, certificates, exposed services, and other internet activity.

That data powers products used by security teams to investigate threats, understand infrastructure, and identify activity that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to see.

We are a small engineering team, which means you will work on real systems from the start and see the impact of what you build.

The Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer who enjoys building backend systems and wants to work on unusual technical problems at a large scale.

Most of our backend is written in Go.

You will work across our APIs, data processing systems, internal services, and customer-facing product infrastructure.

One week you might build an API for querying internet data. The next you might improve a processing pipeline, investigate why a service is behaving badly in production, or build tooling that helps us process a new type of internet telemetry.

The role is broad by design.

You will have ownership of your work, but you will also be working closely with other engineers rather than being expected to design the entire platform yourself.

What You Will Do

• Build backend services and APIs in Go.
• Develop features used directly by Infrawatch customers.
• Work with large volumes of internet and cybersecurity data.
• Build and improve data processing pipelines.
• Integrate services with Kafka, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, Redis, and other infrastructure.
• Debug production issues and understand why systems behave the way they do.
• Improve performance, reliability, and observability.
• Write tests and make sure the software you ship works properly in production.
• Review code and contribute to engineering decisions.
• Help improve existing systems rather than only building new ones.
• Learn parts of the platform outside your immediate area of work.

What We Are Looking For

You should have professional software engineering experience and be comfortable working on backend systems.

We are particularly interested in people who have worked with Go, but strong backend engineers coming from another language may also be a good fit if they are happy to work primarily in Go.

You should be comfortable with things like:

• Building and maintaining backend services.
• Designing and consuming APIs.
• Working with databases and data stores.
• Debugging software you did not originally write.
• Understanding logs, metrics, and production behaviour.
• Writing clear, maintainable code.
• Testing your work before considering it finished.
• Working independently on well-scoped engineering problems.
• Asking questions when the problem is unclear rather than guessing.
• You do not need to be an expert in distributed systems or have operated internet-scale infrastructure before joining.

We care much more about strong fundamentals, curiosity, and evidence that you can learn difficult systems quickly.

How We Work

Infrawatch is a small company and engineers are expected to take ownership of what they build.

That means understanding the problem, writing the software, testing it properly, shipping it, and paying attention to what happens afterwards.

At the same time, we do not expect every engineer to already know everything.

You will work directly with experienced engineers, get exposure to a wide range of systems, and gradually take on larger and more difficult areas of the platform.

There is very little bureaucracy. If something should be improved, you can usually talk directly to the person responsible and fix it.

We care about people who are dependable, curious, practical, and interested in becoming very good engineers.

At Infrawatch, you will work with billions of real observations from across the internet and help turn them into useful products.

Because the team is small, you will also get much broader exposure than you would typically get inside a narrowly defined engineering team at a large company.

The work you ship will be used by real customers and will have a visible impact on the product.

Location

This is a remote position, preferably within the UK or US, with occasional in-person team meetups.

Applicants based in the UK must already have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.

Salary and Equity

£60,000 - £90,000, plus meaningful equity.

Compensation will depend on experience and technical ability.
