Full Stack Engineer

About the company

Our client is a Series B insurtech rebuilding commercial insurance with software, data and AI. It insures the builders and operators behind highways, data centers, stadiums and hospitals, has grown nearly 3x year over year, and has years of runway backed by top-tier venture investors.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. You will build the core internal infrastructure behind underwriting, pricing and policy workflows, working directly with actuaries and underwriters to turn complex domain logic into clean, durable production systems.

What you'll do

• Build full-stack features and backend services for underwriting, pricing and policy workflows
• Translate actuarial and underwriting logic into production-grade services
• Own production backend services end to end, from design through operation
• Build agentic and automation features that remove manual, paper-heavy work
• Collaborate closely with underwriters, actuaries and product partners

What we're looking for

• 4 to 8 years as a full-stack or backend software engineer at a venture-backed startup or big tech company
• Shipped product or backend work (infrastructure-only experience does not count)
• Professional experience in at least one of Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Ruby or Kotlin
• Ownership of production backend services end to end
• Able to work on-site full-time in New York or San Francisco

Tech stack: TypeScript, Python, Node.js, Postgres, Redis, GraphQL, Apollo, React, Next.js

Bonus points

• Experience in a regulated industry: fintech, insurtech, legal tech or health tech
• CS degree
• React experience

Compensation and benefits

• $190K-$400K base, depending on level
