About This Week in AI
This Week in AI is a tiny media and community platform focused on helping people understand and navigate the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence.
We cover the latest developments in AI, build a community around the technology, and explore how AI is changing the way people work and build.
We're looking for a Software Engineer Intern who wants to do more than just write code. You'll help us build products, automate workflows, experiment with AI, and turn ideas into working software.
What You'll Do
- Build products: Design, develop, and ship features across our web applications and internal tools.
- Build with AI: Experiment with LLMs, AI APIs, agents, and emerging technologies to create useful products and workflows.
- Automate operations: Identify repetitive tasks across content, research, marketing, and business operations that can be automated.
- Work across the stack: Contribute to frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and third-party integrations.
- Experiment rapidly: Build prototypes, test ideas, and iterate based on user feedback.
- Own projects end-to-end: Take ideas from problem definition to implementation, deployment, and improvement.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a founding software developer intern with fullstack experience with the following prequisites:
- Strong programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
- Experience building projects outside of coursework.
- Familiarity with at least one programming language and modern development tools.
- Basic understanding of APIs, databases, Git, and software development practices.
- Curiosity about AI and a desire to understand how emerging technologies can be applied to real-world problems.
- A bias toward action: you're comfortable figuring things out, learning quickly, and taking ownership.
Bonus points if you have:
- Preferably graduated.
- Have written technical or non-technical content before - in your own blog or someone else's.
- Built and deployed personal projects or contributed to open source.
- Experience with React, Next.js, Python, Node.js, or similar technologies.
- Built applications using LLM APIs, AI agents, or automation tools.
- Experience with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
- An interest in media, creator tools, newsletters, or online communities.
What You'll Gain
- The opportunity to build and ship real products in a fast-moving AI environment.
- Hands-on experience applying AI to practical problems.
- Exposure to product development, engineering, and startup operations.
- The freedom to experiment with new tools and technologies.
- Direct collaboration with the team at This Week in AI.
- The opportunity to take ownership of meaningful projects and potentially grow into a full-time role.
Working Perks
- Fully Remote: Work from wherever you do your best work.
- Build from Zero to One: Be part of the journey of turning early-stage ideas into real products used by people.
- Build a Global AI Community: Help grow an international community of people building, exploring, and shaping the future of AI.
- Real Ownership: Take ownership of projects, experiment with ideas, and see your work make a tangible impact.
- Learn by Building: Work hands-on with emerging AI technologies, modern development tools, and real-world problems.
How to Apply
Send us your resume, GitHub profile, and link to a project that you're most product of.
Tell us about something you've built, a technical problem you've solved, or an idea you'd love to turn into a product.
