What Novyte Materials does

• We're building an AI-powered materials discovery platform. Think of it as giving research scientists a copilot that accelerates how new materials are identified, tested, and brought to production.
• Our stack combines PyTorch Bayesian models, AI agents, LLM toolchains, a FastAPI backend, and a React + Tailwind frontend.
• We're backed by Theia Ventures, working with real enterprise customers and real scientists, and shipping software that runs on sensitive on-prem GPU infrastructure.

Why this role exists

• Our platform is moving into enterprise deployments, and the product has to keep up. Ideas are coming from everywhere: the AI research team, the design team, our customers, and our own daily use of the product. We need someone who turns those ideas into polished, reliable software.
• You'll own features end-to-end, from the React UI to the FastAPI endpoint to the database underneath. This isn't a "maintain what exists" role. You'll be building from scratch alongside a small, technically sharp team.

What you'll actually do

• Ship features across the full product: React/Tailwind frontend, FastAPI backend, and Postgres/MongoDB data layers.
• Turn research into product. When the AI team has a new Bayesian model, agent workflow, or LLM toolchain, you make it something a scientist can actually use and trust.
• Work closely with design and implement their vision exactly, down to the details that make a tool feel great.
• Take product ideas from the team, scope them, build them, and improve them after launch.
• Design clean APIs and data models, and keep queries fast as data and customers grow.
• Keep our GitHub Actions pipelines healthy and make light infrastructure changes on AWS/GCP when features need them, so the software team ships confidently and often.
• Build with both deployment modes in mind: cloud and on-prem/air-gapped installs where there's no internet to fall back on.

What we're looking for

• Someone who loves implementing ideas perfectly, with strong instincts for UX, edge cases, and "this doesn't feel right yet."
• Strong React and modern frontend fundamentals, and comfort with Tailwind.
• Solid Python/FastAPI experience: you can design and ship backend services, not just call them.
• Comfortable with PostgreSQL and MongoDB, including schema design and query performance.
• Working knowledge of GitHub Actions and AWS and/or GCP. You don't need to be an infra expert, just able to keep up.
• SSH and Linux knowledge is a nice-to-have. The terminal should at least not scare you.
• You don't need to check every box. We care more about someone who figures things out and takes ownership than someone with a perfect résumé.
