About the job

DevOps Engineer

About timepay.ai

timepay.ai builds AI voice agents and WhatsApp and SMS automation for businesses across industries. Our platform runs lead generation, sales, customer support, retail and collections conversations at scale.

The role

You will own the cloud infrastructure behind real-time voice and messaging at scale. Your work keeps the platform fast, secure, reliable and cost-efficient.

We run mainly on GCP, with some workloads on AWS. You will design and automate environments, build CI/CD, secure networks and data, and keep costs in check.

What we run

Our applications are built with Node.js, Python, WebSockets and Next.js. They run on PostgreSQL, Redis and Elasticsearch, packaged with Docker on GCP and AWS.

What you'll do

Cloud infrastructure (GCP-heavy, plus AWS)

  • Design, build and run infrastructure on GCP (GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Memorystore, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage) and AWS (EC2, EKS, RDS, S3 and related services).
  • Manage everything as code with Terraform: reusable modules, remote state and separate dev, staging and production environments.
  • Run and scale Docker workloads on Kubernetes, and manage PostgreSQL, Redis and Elasticsearch in production.

Networking and security

  • Design VPCs, subnets, firewalls, load balancers, Cloud NAT, DNS, VPNs and private connectivity between clouds and customer networks.
  • Secure environments: IAM with least privilege, secrets management, encryption, network segmentation, WAF and DDoS protection.
  • Set up audit logging, vulnerability scanning and patching, and support compliance needs such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

CI/CD and automation

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, GitLab CI or similar) with automated tests, image builds and safe rollouts.
  • Support zero-downtime deploys with blue-green or canary releases and quick rollbacks.
  • Automate repetitive operational work with scripts in Bash or Python.

Reliability, monitoring and optimisation

  • Set up monitoring, logging, tracing and alerts (Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK or similar).
  • Own backups, disaster recovery and high availability for critical services.
  • Tune performance and autoscaling for real-time WebSocket and voice traffic.
  • Cut cloud costs through rightsizing, committed-use discounts, spot instances and cleanup of unused resources.
  • Lead incident response and blameless post-mortems.

What success looks like

  • 30 days: Audited our GCP and AWS setup, CI/CD and security; shared a prioritised list of gaps; shipped quick wins.
  • 60 days: Brought key infrastructure under Terraform; improved CI/CD so deploys are faster and safer; set up core alerts and dashboards.
  • 90 days: Hardened network and IAM security; tested backup and disaster recovery; delivered a measurable cut in cloud costs.

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years in DevOps, SRE, platform or cloud engineering.
  • Strong hands-on GCP experience (GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, IAM, VPC, Cloud Build or similar) and working AWS experience.
  • Solid networking: TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, VPC design, firewalls, NAT, VPNs and TLS.
  • Terraform in production: modules, state management and multi-environment setups.
  • Docker and Kubernetes in production.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines from scratch.
  • Security mindset: IAM, secrets management, hardening and least privilege.
  • Scripting in Bash and Python; comfortable on Linux.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools and with on-call incident handling.
  • Ownership and clear communication with developers.

Good to have

  • GCP or AWS certifications.
  • Helm, Argo CD or other GitOps tools.
  • Running PostgreSQL, Redis and Elasticsearch at scale.
  • Real-time or WebSocket-heavy workloads, telephony or media servers.
  • Cloud cost optimisation (FinOps).
  • Compliance work such as SOC 2, ISO 27001 or the DPDP Act.

Why join timepay.ai

  • Own the infrastructure of a fast-growing AI platform, with real say over how it is built.
  • Work on hard problems: real-time voice at scale, multi-cloud networking and security.
  • See the direct impact of your work on uptime, speed and cost.
  • Competitive salary and flexible work.
