Position Description
This position is based in our CGI Minneapolis office and is a billable, senior client-facing consulting role.
CGI is looking for an experienced Snowflake Data and AI Architect to lead the design of enterprise-scale data and AI platforms on the Snowflake AI Data Cloud. This role sets the technical direction for both data engineering and AI adoption, including Snowflake Cortex, Cortex Agents, and Snowflake Intelligence. You will define target-state architectures, establish governance and security frameworks, and serve as the senior technical authority who advises stakeholders from engineers to executive leadership in an advanced technology environment.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Define end-to-end target-state architectures on the Snowflake AI Data Cloud spanning ingestion, transformation, storage, governance, consumption, and AI and ML.
- Lead architecture and design workshops and translate business requirements into reference architectures, standards, and delivery roadmaps.
- Design multi-account, multi-cloud, and multi-region topologies, including replication, failover, and business continuity.
- Establish the AI architecture strategy for applying Cortex AISQL, Cortex Analyst, Cortex Search, Cortex Agents, and Snowflake Intelligence, including semantic models and RAG patterns.
- Establish enterprise data governance, security, and FinOps frameworks, including RBAC design, masking, tag-based policies, and cost controls.
- Lead migration and modernization strategy from legacy warehouses and other platforms to Snowflake.
- Provide technical governance and oversight across delivery teams and mentor engineers and architects.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years in data engineering, data warehousing, or data architecture, with 4+ years designing and delivering Snowflake solutions.
- Proven experience as a lead or principal architect on enterprise-scale Snowflake implementations.
- Deep expertise across the Snowflake platform, including architecture, performance and cost optimization, data sharing, and security and governance.
- Hands-on understanding of Snowflake Cortex AI and the ability to architect Cortex-based solutions across advanced data and AI Cortex services.
- Experience designing data governance, security, and compliance frameworks, including regulatory requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2.
- Strong understanding of at least one major cloud platform, with multi-cloud experience preferred, and enterprise-scale data modeling expertise.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder-management, and presentation skills, with the ability to advise technical teams and executive leadership.
- Consulting or client-facing delivery experience.
- Demonstrated architecture-level experience on at least one hyperscaler (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including networking, IAM, storage tiering, and security controls, with the ability to design Snowflake deployments that integrate cleanly with cloud-native services (e.g., private connectivity, key management, data lake integration).
- Experience architecting for high availability and disaster recovery across cloud regions/accounts, including replication and failover strategies.
- Relevant cloud architecture certification (AWS Solutions Architect – Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or GCP Professional Cloud Architect).
