Role Overview
The Business Development Representative is responsible for generating new business opportunities through outbound prospecting and cold calling. This role focuses on identifying potential clients, initiating conversations with decision-makers, qualifying opportunities, and scheduling meetings for the Paperless Solutions sales team.
The ideal candidate is comfortable making outbound calls, handling objections, navigating organizations to identify the right contacts, and maintaining consistent prospecting activity. Success in this role is measured by conversations generated, qualified meetings scheduled, and opportunities created.
This position is highly independent and requires confidence, persistence, professionalism, and strong organizational skills. Responsibilities
• Conduct outbound cold calls to targeted prospects and organizations
• Research prospective accounts and identify decision-makers
• Introduce Paperless Solutions' scanning, digitization, records management, workflow automation, AI, and information modernization services
• Qualify leads and determine business needs, project timelines, and buying authority
• Schedule meetings and discovery calls for sales executives
• Manage follow-up communications through phone, email, and LinkedIn
• Maintain accurate records of all activities and interactions in the Paperless CRM system
• Track prospect status and update opportunity notes
• Overcome objections professionally and effectively
• Communicate market feedback, trends, and prospect insights to management
• Meet weekly activity, conversation, and appointment-setting goals
• Support lead generation campaigns and targeted outreach initiatives
• Collaborate with business development and marketing teams to improve messaging and outreach effectiveness
Qualifications
• Strong verbal communication and active listening skills
• Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with executives, department leaders, and other decision-makers
• Comfortable making outbound calls, initiating conversations with prospective clients, and identifying the appropriate contacts within an organization
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Quick learner with the ability to understand and explain Paperless Solutions’ services and value proposition
• Receptive to feedback and willing to learn new prospecting techniques and sales tools
• Resilient and able to handle rejection while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and maintain consistent prospecting activity
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and business communication tools
Preferred Qualifications
• At least two years of experience in cold calling, telemarketing, appointment setting, inside sales, or business development, or experience selling B2B services or technology solutions
• Experience working with CRM systems
• Familiarity with document management, records management, scanning, digitization, AI, or information governance solutions
• Experience using Apollo for prospecting, contact research, lead generation, and sales outreach
• Prior experience generating qualified appointments for outside sales teams

Performance Expectations
• Make approximately 30 - 60 outbound calls per day
• Generate qualified conversations with prospective clients
• Schedule 4-8 qualified meetings per week
• Maintain accurate CRM records and follow-up activities
• Meet established prospecting and appointment-setting goals
• Contribute to pipeline growth and new business development efforts
