About the job

Position Description

We are seeking a Junior Oracle DBA to support the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and the Defense Agencies Initiative (DAI), a large scale Oracle E Business Suite (EBS) federal financial management environment hosted in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

This role assists application developers with performance tuning, data operations, and secure data flows that underpin posting logic analysis, machine readable rule artifacts, validation services, and analytics reporting.

This position is remote and can be located anywhere within the Continental US.

Your future duties and responsibilities

  • Assist with Oracle EBS (R12) database administration: monitoring, health checks, performance tuning, indexing, and statistics management.
  • Help implement secure data flows from EBS to OCI Object Storage (exports in CSV/JSON/XML) for downstream services and dashboards.
  • Assist with SQL/PL/SQL tasks used by reporting and compliance teams.
  • Maintain run books, SOPs, and operational documentation; contribute to audit evidence and data lineage artifacts.
  • Collaborate with PL/SQL developers, DevSecOps, and functional analysts to troubleshoot query performance and data quality issues.

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

  • 1–5 years of experience with Oracle Database administration or operations (on prem or cloud).
  • Proficiency in SQL/PL/SQL, schema objects, indexes, and query optimization fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with Linux basics, scripting (bash/PowerShell), and routine monitoring tools.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills; ability to follow SOPs and change control processes.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain IT II Non Critical Sensitive security clearance or Tier 3 (T3) investigation suitability.

Desired qualifications/non essential skills required:

  • Experience with Oracle E Business Suite (Financials) environments (AP/AR/GL/FA/PO) or other ERP.
  • Exposure to OCI services (Object Storage, Autonomous DB/ADW/Logging/Monitoring).
  • Understanding of federal financial contexts (USSGL/SFIS/SLOA) or audit focused operations
  • Certifications: Oracle Database, Security+ (preferred).
  • Curious, detail oriented, and methodical; strong problem solving and teamwork.
  • Reliable in compliance driven environments; comfortable escalating risks/impediments early.
  • Organized, with the ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines under senior guidance.
