Python Automation & Reconciliation Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Python Automation & Reconciliation Engineer to build and enhance automation solutions for our reconciliation application.

The role involves automating the end-to-end reconciliation process, including fetching statements/data from different sources, processing and transforming data, applying rule-based calculations, identifying mismatches, and generating reconciliation reports.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Python, scripting, data processing, workflow automation, and rule-based systems.

Key Responsibilities
Develop Python-based automation for fetching and processing financial/transaction statements from different sources.
Automate data extraction from APIs, databases, files, portals, emails, or other systems.
Build data processing and transformation pipelines using Python.
Implement configurable rule-based reconciliation and calculation logic.
Compare records across multiple sources and identify matched, unmatched, and exception transactions.
Automate reconciliation workflows from data ingestion to final reporting.
Develop scripts for data validation, cleansing, normalization, and exception handling.
Integrate external APIs, databases, file systems, and third-party applications.
Build reusable automation scripts and utilities to reduce manual intervention.
Handle different statement formats such as CSV, Excel, PDF, JSON, XML, etc., where required.
Develop logging, monitoring, error handling, and audit trails for automated processes.
Work with the product and development team to convert business reconciliation rules into technical logic.
Optimize automation workflows for reliability, scalability, and performance.
Troubleshoot reconciliation discrepancies and automation failures.
Document automation workflows, rules, integrations, and technical processes.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Python.
Strong scripting and automation experience.
Experience with Pandas, NumPy, requests/API integration, and data processing libraries.
Experience working with REST APIs and JSON/XML.
Strong SQL and database experience.
Experience with file processing, particularly Excel/CSV and structured data.
Good understanding of data matching, comparison, validation, and transformation.
Experience implementing business rules and rule-based calculations.
Good understanding of exception handling, logging, and automation monitoring.
Familiarity with Git/version control.
Good to Have
Experience in financial reconciliation, banking, payments, accounting, or transaction processing.
Experience working with bank statements, payment gateways, settlement files, invoices, or transaction reports.
Experience with PDF statement extraction/OCR.
Experience with RPA or browser automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or similar.
Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Celery, or similar.
Experience deploying Python automation on cloud environments.
Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD.
Experience designing configurable rule engines or reconciliation frameworks.

2–5 years of relevant experience in Python development, automation, data processing, reconciliation, or related areas.

Candidates with strong hands-on automation experience and relevant project exposure may also be considered irrespective of exact years of experience.
