Overview

GovStar seeks an experienced Salesforce Developer to design, build, enhance, and maintain Salesforce solutions supporting complex federal missions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer who combines strong Salesforce engineering expertise with excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

This role requires substantial experience developing custom Salesforce functionality using Apex and Lightning Web Components (LWC), building and implementing Salesforce Flows, and designing and administering effective sharing and permission models.

The successful candidate will work closely with technical teammates, business stakeholders, and customers to understand operational needs, translate business requirements into well-designed technical capabilities, and deliver secure, scalable, maintainable Salesforce solutions.

PLEASE NOTE:

Strong preference will be given to candidates with an active DHS Public Trust or Top Secret clearance.

Candidates must reside in the United States within the Eastern or Central Time Zone.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable Salesforce applications and custom functionality.
• Develop custom Salesforce capabilities using Apex and Lightning Web Components (LWC).
• Design, build, test, and maintain Salesforce Flows to automate business processes and improve operational efficiency.
• Configure and manage Salesforce objects, fields, relationships, validation rules, and other platform components.
• Design, implement, and maintain Salesforce sharing, access, and permission models aligned with business and security requirements.
• Translate business and functional requirements into effective technical solutions within the Salesforce platform.
• Collaborate with customers, product stakeholders, analysts, developers, and other technical team members to define requirements and solution approaches.
• Evaluate requirements and determine when to use declarative Salesforce capabilities versus custom development.
• Troubleshoot defects, platform issues, automation failures, permissions problems, and application performance concerns.
• Develop maintainable solutions that follow sound software engineering and Salesforce development practices.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, release activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Maintain clear technical documentation for developed functionality, configuration, architecture decisions, and operational procedures.
• Communicate progress, risks, technical challenges, dependencies, and recommended solutions proactively.
• Contribute ideas for improving existing applications, processes, development practices, and customer outcomes.
• Remain current on Salesforce platform capabilities, development practices, and emerging technologies relevant to the mission.
• Support GovStar knowledge-sharing, innovation, and continuous-learning initiatives.
• Build trusted working relationships with GovStar teammates, partners, and federal customers through strong communication, accountability, and follow-through.

Minimum Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
• Must currently reside in the United States.
• Must reside within the Eastern or Central Time Zone.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional Salesforce development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience designing, building, and implementing Salesforce Flows.
• Strong hands-on experience creating and managing Salesforce sharing and permission models.
• Strong hands-on development experience using Apex.
• Strong hands-on development experience using Lightning Web Components (LWC).
• Strong understanding of the Salesforce security model, including user access, permissions, and record-sharing concepts.
• Strong understanding of the Salesforce object model and experience configuring Salesforce data structures to support business requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into working technical solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, manage assigned responsibilities proactively, and identify issues before they become blockers.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Preferred Requirements

• Current or previous DHS Public Trust, with preference given to candidates who currently hold an active DHS Public Trust.
• Experience developing Salesforce solutions in support of DHS or other U.S. federal government customers.
• Experience designing Salesforce solutions that combine declarative automation with custom Apex/LWC development.
• Experience working on complex Salesforce implementations involving multiple user groups, access requirements, and business processes.
• Experience participating in modern software development practices such as version control, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, and structured release management.
• Experience working directly with customers or business stakeholders to refine requirements and recommend technical approaches.
• Experience documenting Salesforce architectures, configuration decisions, workflows, integrations, or development standards.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and keeping current with Salesforce platform capabilities and best practices.
• Salesforce technical certifications relevant to application development or platform architecture.
