Backend Lead / Solutions Architect – Node.js / NestJS / AWS

About the Role
We are looking for a Backend Lead / Solutions Architect to own the end-to-end architecture of a modern, multi-tenant HRMS platform. The role will focus on scalable microservices, real-time services, security, AWS architecture, integrations, and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities
Own backend architecture covering microservices, multi-tenancy, security and audit.
Design real-time services using WebSockets, event-driven architecture and pub/sub.
Build and scale APIs using Node.js, NestJS, Fastify and TypeScript.
Work with Python for payroll services.
Design and manage AWS infrastructure including Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, WAF, VPC and S3.
Implement SSO/OAuth2/OIDC using AWS Cognito and IAM.
Gather requirements and support enterprise integrations.
Maintain architecture documentation, diagrams, ADRs and API specifications.
Set technical standards, conduct code reviews and mentor senior developers.

Must Have
8+ years backend development experience, including 5+ years in real-time systems.
Strong Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript and Fastify experience.
Experience with Python 3.12.
Strong knowledge of WebSockets, event-driven systems, pub/sub and scalable architectures.
Experience with microservices, multi-tenancy, row-level security, API design and audit frameworks.
Strong AWS experience: Lambda, ECS, ECR, DynamoDB, API Gateway, WAF, VPC, S3, CloudFront, IAM.
PostgreSQL, Drizzle ORM, Valkey/Redis and BullMQ.
Strong understanding of Cognito, OAuth2/OIDC, RBAC, OWASP and secrets management.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenTofu, GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
Experience with OpenTelemetry, Grafana and Sentry.
Strong architecture documentation, code review and mentoring skills.

Nice to Have
Experience with LangChain, pgvector, OpenAI/Azure OpenAI or anomaly detection.
HRMS, payroll or enterprise SaaS experience.
Multi-region and GCC/data-residency experience.
Experience designing large-scale real-time systems.
