Technical Sales Engineer – Electronic Components
Austin, Texas Metropolitan Area | Hybrid | Full-Time
Company Description
Fralia Co. & Associates is a manufacturers’ representative firm providing technical sales and applications support for leading electronic component and system manufacturers across Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas.
Role Description
Fralia is seeking an experienced, customer-facing Technical Sales Engineer with a background in electronic components, electrical/electronic hardware, or other engineered physical products.
This is an outside, customer-facing hardware sales role focused on electronic components, engineered products, and design-in opportunities. This is not a software, SaaS, IT, or software pre-sales position.
The Technical Sales Engineer will work directly with design engineers, engineering managers, purchasing professionals, and other decision-makers to identify new applications, develop design-in opportunities, and grow customer relationships.
The position is hybrid, combining customer visits with work from a home office, with occasional overnight travel.
Responsibilities
- Develop new business and grow existing customer accounts throughout the territory.
- Proactively identify and penetrate new OEMs, engineering organizations, and customer opportunities.
- Build relationships with design engineers and identify new projects, applications, and product requirements.
- Present electronic components, electromechanical products, sensors, controls, and related system solutions to engineers.
- Translate customer technical requirements into solutions in partnership with our manufacturers.
- Develop design-in opportunities from initial discovery through engineering evaluation, qualification, and production.
- Coordinate samples, quotations, technical information, demonstrations, and manufacturer support.
- Provide technical and applications support to customers as needed.
- Maintain accurate opportunity, pipeline, customer activity, and sales forecasts in the company CRM.
Qualifications
- Proven outside, customer-facing technical sales experience involving electronic components, electrical/electronic hardware, engineered products, industrial equipment, or similar physical products.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new business, prospect for opportunities, and open new customer accounts.
- Experience working directly with design engineers, engineering managers, buyers, and other technical decision-makers.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand customer requirements and communicate product capabilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another technical discipline, or equivalent relevant technical sales experience.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to travel throughout the territory as required.
- U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to customer and ITAR-controlled program requirements.
Preferred Experience
Experience with electronic components, manufacturers’ representative firms, electronic component distributors, OEM sales, or design-in/design-win selling is highly desirable.
Experience in Industrial, Military & Aerospace, Off-Highway Vehicle, Telecom, IoT, or HVAC markets is a plus. Power BI experience is also beneficial.
Candidates whose experience is primarily software, SaaS, IT services, software implementation, or software pre-sales without significant customer-facing hardware or component sales experience are unlikely to be a fit for this position.
Compensation & Benefits
Fralia offers a competitive compensation package designed to reward both individual and territory performance.
- Performance-based incentive compensation with significant upside for above-target performance
- Automobile allowance
- Cell phone allowance
- Reimbursement of approved business expenses
- Medical insurance
- 401(k)
- Flexible PTO
