About Pragma
Pragma builds an integrated suite of applications for e-commerce merchants, used by some of India’s fastest-growing brands. Our platform connects merchant workflows, payments, third-party integrations, and background processing across multiple systems.
We’re looking for a hands-on Production Support Engineer to investigate issues across our platform and implement reliable fixes. This role focuses on maintaining and improving existing systems, with production troubleshooting and bug resolution as the primary responsibilities.
What You Will Do
- Investigate issues reported by internal teams, merchants, and monitoring systems.
- Trace problems through application code, logs, APIs, database records, and background jobs.
- Identify root causes and implement focused fixes in our Python/Django applications.
- Troubleshoot third-party integrations, including failed API requests, missing webhooks, authentication errors, and data-sync issues.
- Write regression tests to ensure resolved issues do not recur.
- Verify fixes and monitor affected workflows after deployment.
- Document findings, resolutions, and troubleshooting steps.
- Build small scripts or automation to reduce repetitive support work.
- Communicate progress clearly and escalate complex or high-impact issues with supporting evidence.
- Follow code-review and deployment processes, taking care when working with production systems and customer data.
What We’re Looking For
- 1–2 years of professional experience in Python backend development or application/production support involving code changes.
- Hands-on experience with Python and Django; familiarity with Django REST Framework.
- Working knowledge of SQL, preferably PostgreSQL, including joins and investigating inconsistent records.
- Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP status codes, authentication, and webhooks.
- Ability to read an existing codebase, interpret logs and tracebacks, and reproduce bugs.
- Familiarity with Git, Linux commands, Docker, and Docker Compose.
- Ability to write and test small, maintainable fixes.
- A methodical approach to debugging, attention to detail, and ownership through resolution.
- Clear communication and the judgment to ask for help when needed.
Good to Have
- Experience supporting a live SaaS or e-commerce application.
- Exposure to Celery, Redis, task queues, or scheduled jobs.
- Experience troubleshooting payments, logistics, or other third-party integrations.
- Familiarity with application monitoring and error-tracking tools.
Role Focus
This is a technical role that involves reading and changing application code. Your primary focus will be investigating production issues, fixing defects, and preventing repeat incidents across the platform. You will work with the engineering team on complex issues and changes requiring broader review.
