Founding Design Lead

flo101 is an AI skilling platform built around orchestration rather than content distribution. It constructs a learning path around how an individual actually works, delivered through a system of agents that plan, teach, practise and assess, and adapts that path as their skill develops.

Why this role exists :

At flo101, design cannot be reduced to making screens cleaner. It has to shape comprehension, trust, momentum, weirdness, and distinctiveness. In consumer AI, design is often the difference between an interesting demo and a product people actually build habits around.

We are hiring a Founding Design Lead to own that layer. The role is broader than product design alone. It covers product experience and interaction design, and it also covers brand: how flo101 is positioned, how it sounds, and how we talk about ourselves. We want someone with real ownership across both, and the room to experiment.

What you will own :

• The end-to-end product experience, especially onboarding, clarity, guidance, delight, and surprise
• How flo101 is positioned, how it sounds, and how we talk about ourselves, across product, website, and launch surfaces
• Interaction patterns that make AI feel usable, legible, and trustworthy
• The early visual system: type, layout, interface language, motion, and consistency standards
• The working relationship between design and engineering, close enough that the two are built together
• Experiments and explorations, including the ones that do not ship
• The standard for craft: not just whether something works, but whether it feels intentional and memorable

The person we have in mind :

A product designer by title and something broader in practice. Someone who has shipped interfaces people use every day and is restless about it, because the screen was never the point. What they care about is whether the thing is understood, whether it feels like it was made by someone with a point of view, and whether anyone remembers it a week later.

What we are looking for :

• 4 to 8 years in product design, interaction design, or brand-product hybrid roles
• A portfolio that shows both taste and systems thinking
• Brand experience alongside product: positioning, tone, and how a company presents itself
• Comfort prototyping closely with engineering, in code or with AI tools
• Comfort designing through ambiguity, not only polished briefs
• Strong product instincts: you care about behaviour and comprehension, not just aesthetics
• A point of view on what good consumer AI experiences should feel like

Not a fit if you :

• Only want to polish surfaces after product decisions are already made
• Need a large design team around you to do your best work
• Would rather refine a settled interface than rethink one

How we will evaluate :

We start with your note. If it lands, we may do a short proof-of-work exercise on a real flo101 design problem. We care about judgment, taste, experimental range, and the ability to move from insight to shipped quality.
