About the job
About the Role
Carbon Arc is looking for a Content Strategist to turn our data into research and insights that shape how the market understands us.
The Carbon Arc platform and its data library answer questions no one else can: what consumers are spending, how supply chains and demand are moving, how a brand or venue or category is performing in near real time. This role finds those answers and makes them consumable.
The work is heavily analytical. You will be querying data, creating a defensible cut, and standing behind the number, not writing around an analysis someone else produced. It also builds on itself: we are packaging our analytical capabilities into Skills, reusable and documented workflows that let a nontechnical customer ask a question in plain language and get a rigorous, repeatable answer. The best candidates for a Skill are the analyses you have already run and refined, so your published work becomes something customers can run on their own, and you can grow into shaping how the wider library is structured.
This role sits within the Content team with direct exposure to our data assets, our commercial teams, and Carbon Arc leadership.
What You'll Do
- Produce data-driven research content, including reports, briefs, decks, and recurring publications, built on original analysis of Carbon Arc data
- Query the data yourself, using our platform, our Skills, and SQL to find the cut of the data that answers the question
- Develop content angles by pairing what is happening in a market with what our data can uniquely say about it, and pitch the ideas worth pursuing
- Build client-ready and prospect-ready material with commercial teams, tailored to a specific account, category, or meeting
- Write for multiple audiences, from a methodologically rigorous research note to a social post to an executive talking point, without diluting the substance
- Treat accuracy as sacrosanct: source every external claim, document methodology, and never ship a number you cannot reconstruct
- Convert your recurring analyses into Skills, defining the query patterns, methodology, and guardrails that let someone else run the same work and reach the same answer
- Create the worked examples and walkthroughs that show non-technical users what our data and Skills make possible
- Grow into the architecture of the Skills library, helping shape how Skills are structured, named, versioned, and reused across industries
- Own a content calendar and pipeline, keeping a steady cadence of output and reporting on what is landing
First 90 Days
Our content pipeline is already running, with recurring publications on a fixed calendar and active commercial demand for new material.
First 30 Days: Learn Carbon Arc's data assets, existing Skills, house methodology, and voice. Take over a recurring publication and ship your first original piece.
By 60 Days: Own a content stream end to end, from angle through analysis, drafting, review, and publication, and begin sourcing your own ideas instead of working from a queue.
By 90 Days: Hold a publishing calendar of your own, help shape what we choose to publish and why,
and build your first Skill from an analysis you have been running.
What You'll Bring
- 3 to 6 years of experience producing data-driven content, research, or analysis, in data journalism, equity or market research, insights, analytics, editorial content marketing, or consulting
- Working SQL and strong spreadsheet skills, with real experience pulling and interrogating data
- Strong writing, with clear structure and a demonstrated ability to make a quantitative finding legible to a non-technical reader
- Sound analytical judgment: knowing which comparison is fair, which trend is noise, and when the data does not support the perspective you anticipated
- A product instinct: the judgment to tell a repeatable capability from a one-off request, and the interest in building the former
- The instinct to verify rather than assume
- Fluency with charts and data presentation, and the taste to pick the right visual for the point
- Hands-on experience with LLM-based tools in a real workflow, and a clear sense of where their output needs to be checked
- Self-direction and the ability to hold a publishing cadence without being managed to it
- A portfolio of published work you can walk us through, including how you got the numbers
Nice to Have
- Python for data analysis
- Domain knowledge in one or more relevant verticals, such as consumer, media and entertainment, sports, retail, energy, or financial services
- Experience with proprietary data, transaction data, or other real-world data assets
- Experience building recurring data products with an established methodology and a fixed release calendar
- Experience productizing analytical work, turning a bespoke analysis into something repeatable
- Experience building prompts, agents, or tools on top of foundation models
- Design sensibility, or experience working closely with design on published material
- Experience writing for a technical B2B or financial audience
- Experience in an early-stage or high-growth startup environment
Compensation
The base salary range for this role is $110,000 to $130,000. Where an offer lands within that range depends on experience and demonstrated skill. The range reflects base salary and does not include the benefits below.
What We Offer
- Fully paid healthcare benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision)
- Remote work options
- 401(k) plan with employer contributions
