AV CAD Engineer

Job Summary
The AV CAD Engineer is responsible for preparing, developing, and maintaining detailed Audio Visual (AV) system drawings for commercial AV integration projects. The role involves supporting Design Engineers, Project Engineers, and Project Managers by creating accurate CAD documentation, system layouts, signal flow diagrams, rack elevations, and installation drawings required for project execution.
The candidate should possess strong AutoCAD skills, understanding of AV systems, and the ability to coordinate with internal teams and clients to ensure project documentation is delivered accurately and on schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop and generate all required AV system drawings for integrated AV projects.
• Prepare detailed AutoCAD drawings including:
o AV floor plans
o Device layouts
o Rack elevations
o Signal flow diagrams
o Cable schedules
o Interconnection diagrams
o Conduit layouts
o Reflected ceiling plans
o Equipment mounting details
• Coordinate with Design Engineers, Project Engineers, and Project Managers to complete project documentation accurately and within timelines.
• Review architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings to ensure AV system coordination.
• Interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints for drawing development.
• Maintain drawing standards, revision control, and project documentation consistency.
• Research AV equipment specifications and components to create accurate system representations.
• Support project documentation including submittals, as-built drawings, and installation packages.
• Assist in preparing technical documentation for client approvals and site execution.
• Coordinate with installation and commissioning teams during project execution.
• Act as customer liaison in the absence of the Senior CAD Technician when required.
• Support site survey activities and update drawings based on field conditions.
• Assist with projector and screen support structure installation documentation.
• Utilize and verify calibration of AV-related equipment when required.
• Operate office printers and plotters for large-format drawing outputs.
• Utilize labelling software for rack labelling and field wiring identification.
• Ensure all drawings comply with company standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.
• Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy.
• Participate in internal project coordination meetings and technical discussions.

Skills and Abilities
• Proven proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of Audio-Visual systems and signal flow concepts.
• Ability to read and interpret:
o Electronic schematics
o Architectural blueprints
o Electrical drawings
o Mechanical layouts
• Familiarity with AV infrastructure and integrated technology systems.
• Understanding of site surveys and field verification processes.
• Knowledge of AV, Mechanical, and Electrical facilities drawings.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Good communication and coordination abilities.
• PC proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in technical documentation.

Education and Experience
• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Drafting, Electronics, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of CAD drafting experience preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of customer interaction experience preferred.
• Experience in Audio Visual industry is an added advantage.

Work Environment
• Office and project site environment.
• May require occasional travel for site surveys and project coordination.
