Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong hands-on experience in
Python, FastAPI, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis, and Grafana. The ideal candidate will
have a strong backend engineering foundation combined with deep experience in
cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, event-driven systems, monitoring, and
production operations. You will be responsible for building scalable backend services,
deploying and managing cloud-native applications, and ensuring the reliability,
performance, and observability of production systems.
This role requires someone who can design, develop, deploy, troubleshoot, and own
systems end-to-end.

Responsibilities

1. Backend Engineering & Platform Development ● Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python, FastAPI, and asynchronous microservices architectures. ● Build and optimize data-intensive applications using PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB or equivalent technologies at production scale. ● Develop high-performance APIs and distributed systems to support AI-driven applications.
2. Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps ● Design, deploy, and manage scalable and highly available applications on AWS. ● Work hands-on with services such as EKS, EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, and Load Balancers. ● Design secure and reliable cloud architectures following AWS best practices. ● Troubleshoot application, infrastructure, networking, and performance issues in production. ● Optimize cloud infrastructure for reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency
3. Kubernetes & DevOps ● Deploy, operate, and scale containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes. ● Strong hands-on experience with Amazon EKS. ● Manage Kubernetes deployments, services, ingress, secrets, config maps, namespaces, resource limits, and autoscaling. ● Troubleshoot pod failures, deployment issues, networking problems, resource constraints, and application crashes. ● Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and release management. ● Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent tools.
4. Kafka & Distributed Systems ● Design and implement scalable event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka. ● Work with Kafka producers, consumers, topics, partitions, consumer groups, and offsets. ● Build reliable asynchronous processing and messaging workflows. ● Handle message retries, failures, duplicate processing, ordering, and consumer rebalancing. ● Monitor and troubleshoot Kafka performance, throughput, and consumer lag. ● Apply distributed-systems principles to build reliable and fault-tolerant services.
5. Monitoring & Observability ● Build and maintain comprehensive monitoring and observability for applications and infrastructure. ● Strong hands-on experience with Grafana for dashboards, metrics visualization, and alerting. ● Work with Prometheus or equivalent monitoring and metrics platforms. ● Monitor application latency, error rates, resource utilization, Kubernetes health, Kafka consumer lag, and Redis performance. ● Implement structured logging, metrics, alerts, and distributed tracing where required. ● Proactively identify production issues and perform root-cause analysis.

Requirements

● 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, DevOps, or a closely related
role.
● B.E.\B.Tech\B.S. Candidates' entries with significant prior experience in the
fields above will be considered.
● Strong experience in Python development and FastAPI.
● Hands-on experience with asynchronous microservices architectures.
● Expertise in PostgreSQL, Mongodb, Redis, and distributed backend systems.
● Strong hands-on experience with AWS.
● Strong production experience with Kubernetes, preferably AWS EKS.
● Experience with Apache Kafka for messaging, event-driven and distributed
systems.
● Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
● Guardrails in production: model fallback routing, prompt-injection defense,
token cost budgets.
● Demonstrated ownership mindset with the ability to drive projects and deliver
high-quality solutions.
● Experience in mentoring team members, conducting code reviews, and sharing
best practices.
