Full Stack Engineer II (React + Kotlin)

Position Summary

We are seeking a Full Stack Engineer II to join a high-performing technology team responsible for building and enhancing modern, scalable digital solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in React.js development and experience building backend services using Kotlin or Java. This role requires a collaborative engineer who is passionate about delivering high-quality software, leveraging modern development practices, and utilizing AI-powered tools to improve productivity and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain modern web applications using React.js.
• Build and support scalable backend services and APIs using Kotlin (preferred) or Java.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Work with NoSQL databases, including MongoDB, to support application data requirements.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, designers, and engineering teams to deliver business solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application performance, scalability, and reliability issues.
• Contribute to application architecture, technical design discussions, and technology decisions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve efficiency while maintaining code quality and engineering standards.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with React.js.
• Experience developing backend applications using Kotlin or Java.
• Experience working with NoSQL databases.
• Strong understanding of modern software development principles and best practices.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kotlin development.
• Experience with MongoDB.
• Experience with TypeScript.
• Experience within Financial Services, Banking, Payments, or FinTech environments.
• Previous experience supporting American Express initiatives or platforms.
• Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with Redux and state management concepts.
• Understanding of responsive web design and modern UI development practices.
• Exposure to event-driven architectures and messaging technologies.
