About the job

We believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. We recognize that mental health issues can be complex and multifaceted, and we are dedicated to treating the whole person, not just the symptoms.

We aim to create a world where mental health is no longer stigmatized or marginalized, but rather is embraced as an integral part of one's overall well-being.

We believe that by providing quality care that is both evidence-based and compassionate, we can empower individuals to take charge of their mental health and achieve their full potential. We are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of those struggling with mental health issues and we strive to be a force for positive change in the field of mental healthcare.

Rula is a remote-first company. We currently hire in most U.S. states, with the exception of Hawaii.

About the Role

We are seeking experienced accounts receivable collectors to manage assigned payers on the Revenue Cycle Management team. As a Billing Support Specialist, you will tackle complex billing challenges and drive operational excellence. In this individual contributor role, you will leverage your expertise to investigate claim denials, navigate evolving payer requirements, and ensure complex claims are prioritized and resolved accurately. You will partner with cross-functional teams to analyze operational and denial trends, identifying key opportunities to optimize workflows and claim outcomes. This role is ideal for a professional who enjoys using technical expertise, critical thinking, and collaboration to influence results, support peers, and enhance revenue cycle efficiency. If you are passionate about solving intricate problems and improving processes through data-driven insights, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our operational performance and the overall success of the revenue cycle. Provides guidance to offshore team members on payer-specific workflows, claim resolution strategies, and operational processes. Assists with onboarding, answers workflow questions, and helps promote consistency by sharing best practices and supporting continuous learning within the pod.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in a healthcare billing, insurance, patient relations, or medical claims role
  • Comprehensive understanding of insurance policies, claim processing, appeals, and recoupment procedures
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Denial Language and Carrier CARC Codes
  • Expert understanding of The Life Cycle of a Claim
  • Critical thinking skills: evaluating complex cases, identifying solutions, and making informed decisions
  • Basic to intermediate level Excel experience (ex: Data formatting, formulas, basic charts, pivot tables)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous mental health or behavioral health billing and collections experience
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software, such as AdvancedMD
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workloads, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Organizational skills: managing multiple cases, correspondence, and documentation with meticulous attention to detail
  • 1+ years of experience partnering with and or leading offshore teams

We're serious about your well-being! As part of our team, full-time employees receive:

  • 100% remote work environment: Working hours to support a healthy work-life balance, ensuring you can meet both professional and personal commitments (must be based in United States, currently not hiring in Hawaii)
  • Attractive pay and benefits: Full transparency of pay ranges regardless of where you live in the United States
  • Comprehensive health benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and FSA/HSA
