AI Product Lead

An exciting opportunity to work with one of our partners on an AI transformation project.

The role

You own the pod's roadmap and its outcomes. You'll decide what we build, what we kill, and how we prove it's working — translating messy operational reality in an energy business into a sequence of AI products that earn their place.

This is a hands-on product role, not a governance one. You'll sit with traders, field teams, customer ops and finance, find where the friction really is, and then work shoulder-to-shoulder with a designer and an engineer to fix it.

What you'll do

• Set and defend the pod's roadmap, from discovery through to adoption and measurement
• Run discovery directly with internal users and customers; separate the AI-shaped problems from the ones that need a spreadsheet
• Define evaluation criteria for LLM-powered features — accuracy, latency, cost per interaction, failure modes — and hold the pod to them
• Own the build/buy/fine-tune decision on each capability
• Handle the unglamorous side: data access, model risk, procurement, and getting sceptical stakeholders on board
• Report progress and hard numbers to the exec team

What you'll bring

• 5–8 years in product management, with meaningful time on AI/ML or data products
• Direct experience shipping LLM-based features — you've made real calls on prompting vs RAG vvsfine-tuning open-weight models like Llama, or building on hosted models like Claude
• Enough technical depth to challenge an engineer's estimate and read an eval report properly
• A track record in fast-paced environments — startups, scale-ups, or lean transformation teams where you carried the outcome yourself
• Strong commercial instincts: you can tie a feature to a cost line or a revenue line
• Excellent written communication (this is a remote, async-first pod)

Nice to have

• Energy, utilities, or another regulated industry
• Experience standing up a new team or capability from scratch
• Familiarity with UK energy market data and regulatory context
