About the job
Supply Chain Manager - Software & Indirect
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading the company's software procurement and indirect sourcing activities, developing strategic supplier relationships, and implementing efficient sourcing strategies that optimize cost, compliance, and operational performance across the organization.
Role
- Manage the full lifecycle of software procurement, from requirements gathering and vendor evaluation through contract negotiation, renewal, and ongoing vendor management.
- Partner with Engineering, IT, Security, Finance, Legal, and Operations teams to develop software sourcing strategies, evaluate technology solutions, analyze licensing models, and optimize cost, functionality, and vendor performance.
- Serve as the primary owner for indirect procurement activities with a strong emphasis on enterprise software, SaaS applications, cloud services, and technology subscriptions, while supporting other indirect spend categories including equipment, employee benefits, and professional services.
- Analyze software and indirect spend, evaluate supplier performance, identify consolidation opportunities, optimize software licensing, and develop sourcing alternatives that maximize value and reduce total cost of ownership.
- Own the end-to-end RFI, RFP, and RFQ process for software and strategic indirect purchases, ensuring commercial terms are negotiated and appropriately documented.
- Lead negotiations for NDAs, Statements of Work (SOWs), Master Service Agreements (MSAs), software licensing agreements, and other commercial contracts before business is initiated.
- Evaluate suppliers based on commercial, technical, security, compliance, and operational criteria, providing recommendations that balance business requirements, cost, and long-term value.
- Develop and execute category strategies for software procurement, including SaaS, cloud services, enterprise applications, and other technology categories.
- Monitor software market trends, emerging technologies, licensing models, vendor roadmaps, and pricing to proactively identify opportunities, risks, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Develop sourcing and negotiation strategies that achieve business objectives while building strong, long-term partnerships with strategic software vendors and service providers.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to manage software renewals, license compliance, contract obligations, and supplier performance throughout the vendor lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or comparable experience).
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in software procurement, strategic sourcing, indirect procurement, vendor management, or related supply chain disciplines.
- Experience negotiating software licensing agreements, SaaS subscriptions, cloud services, and commercial technology contracts.
- Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating spend data, software utilization, licensing models, and supplier performance.
- Incredibly detail-oriented—the type of person who thrives on managing multiple contracts, renewals, and vendor relationships while maintaining exceptional organization.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, IT, Security, Finance, Legal, and Operations teams.
Bonus
- Experience managing enterprise software procurement in a high-growth technology or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with software asset management (SAM), SaaS management platforms, ERP systems, or procurement platforms.
- Experience negotiating cloud service agreements with major software vendors.
- Knowledge of software licensing models, subscription management, and vendor risk or compliance processes.
- Experience supporting procurement in both software and broader indirect spend categories.
