We help lawyers research, draft, manage matters, and practise law more efficiently using AI built specifically for Indian legal work.

We are an early-stage startup based in Mumbai, combining legal expertise with agentic AI systems and our own 7-Gate verification framework. We are not just adding an AI layer on top of existing tools - we are building the core infrastructure for how legal work will be done in India.

About the Role

• We are looking for a Business Manager – Data as a Service (DaaS) to drive the successful execution of our legal data and AI initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who can operate at the intersection of law, business, operations, and technology, ensuring that complex legal data projects are delivered efficiently and at scale.
• As one of the early members of our team, you will work closely with the founders, legal experts, product teams, customers, and AI engineers to build high-quality legal datasets that power next-generation AI solutions for the legal industry in India.
• You will be responsible for managing end-to-end delivery of legal data projects as well as responsible for P&L, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, defining workflows, ensuring quality standards, and driving execution across multiple workstreams. Success in this role requires strong business acumen, an understanding of legal market and processes, and the ability to translate business requirements into actionable deliverables.

What You Will Own

• Own the DaaS sub-product end-to-end, from solutioning to commercial outcomes.
• Own the full commercial and P&L accountability for DaaS, including pricing, licensing model, revenue targets, cost base, and margin.
• Ensure the DaaS roadmap stays architecturally aligned with core NyaayOS, working closely with the Product Lead and Founder's Office.
• Define the legal data taxonomy and structure for the DaaS layer, translating legal domain expertise into concrete data product specifications.
• Run structured customer-side pilots and functional experiments to validate use cases and product-market fit for DaaS.
• Translate customer and market feedback into functional requirements and solution iterations.
• Build scalable, repeatable processes for a fast-growing, early-stage startup environment.
• Stay closely informed on developments in AI, legal-tech, and data-as-a-service models relevant to the Indian legal market.

What We Are Looking For

• Law degree with few years of legal practice, non-negotiable.
• MBA preferred, not mandatory. Candidates without an MBA will be considered if they can demonstrate equivalent commercial and strategic acumen at interview.
• Experience at product tech companies or consulting (MBB) preferred. Deep in-house commercial/legal experience at a top-tier firm may be considered equivalent
• Demonstrated experience owning commercial or P&L outcomes, or strong enough consulting/strategy background to take on P&L ownership directly.
• Ability to work directly with legal domain experts and customers, converting insights into structured data product decisions.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking, with comfort operating at the intersection of legal, product, and commercial functions.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to legal-tech, data licensing, or regulated data products.
• Familiarity with AI-powered, GenAI, LLM, or workflow automation products.
• Experience working in an early-stage or high-growth startup.
• Understanding of data taxonomy, structuring, or data product management for domain-specific datasets.
• Familiarity with RAG, agentic AI systems, or AI workflows relevant to legal data.
