Backend Software Engineer (2-5 Years – Perceptive Labs)

Responsibilities

• Build backend APIs using Python and FastAPI
• Design clean, scalable REST APIs
• Work with PostgreSQL / SQL databases
• Build data pipelines for invoices, bills, PDFs, and structured business data
• Handle file uploads, document processing, validation, retries, and edge cases
• Integrate with accounting systems such as Tally / ERP systems
• Deploy and maintain services on Google Cloud Platform
• Work with Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, IAM, Secret Manager
• Improve performance, reliability, logging, monitoring, and error handling
• Debug production issues and messy real-world data problems
• Write clean, maintainable, well-structured code
• Ship customer-facing features end-to-end

Required Skills:

• Strong Python fundamentals
• Experience with FastAPI or Django
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Experience or strong understanding of Google Cloud Platform
• Docker and container-based deployments
• Logs, monitoring, alerts, and production debugging
• Basic CI/CD understanding
• Understanding of backend architecture and client-server systems
• Ability to debug complex issues independently
• Good grasp of data structures, validation, and error handling
• High attention to detail
• Ability to learn fast and take ownership

Nice to Have

• Experience with LLM APIs such as OpenAI
• Experience with background jobs, queues, workers, or webhooks
• Knowledge of accounting, invoices, GST, Tally, or ERP workflows
• Familiarity with React / Next.js
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms
• Experience building SaaS, automation, or internal tools

Interview Process

1. Initial Conversation (30 minutes): Introduction, career aspirations, and behavioural assessment.
2. Group Technical & Case Study Assessment (60 minutes): Evaluation of problem-solving, system design,workflows, pipelines and applied coding through a structured case study.
3. Final Discussion (30 minutes): Role expectations, collaboration style, and growth opportunities.
