About the job
Cube is an AI-powered marketing technology company founded by alumni of Stanford, Wharton, and IITs, headquartered in Bengaluru and backed by Sequoia. We are building the future of marketing, not just as an agency, but as a product company with a growing suite of technology platforms.
We are looking for a Tech Lead to serve as the technical backbone of everything we build. You will work hand-in-hand with the founders, set the engineering direction across our product portfolio, and be the person who transforms ambitious ideas into reliable, scalable systems. This is not a role for someone who wants to delegate from a distance. It is for someone who codes, decides, and leads by example.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Lead and mentor an engineering team of 8 to 10 members (mostly 2024 to 2026 graduates), setting the bar for code quality, architecture decisions, and engineering culture
• Own products from 0 to 1, from scoping and architecture through to deployment and iteration, across all three of our platforms
• Design and build scalable backend systems and APIs, balancing speed of execution with long-term maintainability
• Drive frontend development across our web products
• Architect and maintain our cloud infrastructure on AWS
• Evaluate and implement modern technology including large language models, retrieval pipelines, and agent-based workflows
• Collaborate directly with the founders on product roadmap, technical strategy, and prioritization
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• 4 to 7 years of software engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of systems and teams
• Programming language is not a barrier. You think in systems, not syntax
• Solid command of system design fundamentals: distributed systems, databases, APIs, and cloud architecture
• Experience taking products from zero to one in a startup environment. You have shipped, broken things, and shipped again
• Strong debugging skills are a must. When something breaks in production, you are the person who digs in, traces the root cause, and fixes it properly rather than patching around it. You can navigate unfamiliar codebases under pressure and communicate clearly about what went wrong and why
• Thrives in high-intensity environments. We move at startup speed, which means some weeks will demand more than others. If you are energized by shipping fast and seeing your work matter immediately, you will feel right at home
• A bias for action and the judgment to know when to move fast and when to slow down
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and machine learning frameworks is a plus
• Strong ownership mindset. You treat the product like it is yours, because it is
