About Lens
Lens (GK Media Group LLC) is building credibility infrastructure for information — the world's first AI-powered, auditable article-level scoring system called the IQS (Information Quality Standard). Think Bloomberg Terminal for credibility, Moody's for media. We publish original journalism across 7 specialized desks and are backed by an expert panel of academics, diplomats, and journalists. We are pre-seed, NYC-based, and moving fast.
This role sits at the intersection of mission and visibility. You will build the public face of both the company and its founder — across five platforms, from day one.
The Role
We are looking for a sharp, self-directed Social Media Manager to own two parallel mandates:
Mandate 1 — Lens Brand
Build Lens into a recognized, credible voice in the media intelligence space. This means content that educates, provokes, and earns trust — consistent with a company whose entire product is credibility.
Mandate 2 — James Knurbein Personal Brand
Position James as a serious founder-voice in the media, technology, and information integrity space. Thought leadership, founder narrative, and platform-native content across LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
Platform Scope
LinkedIn — founder thought leadership, institutional positioning, long-form posts
X / Twitter — real-time commentary, media industry takes, engagement
Instagram — brand identity, visual storytelling, behind-the-scenes
TikTok — short-form video, editorial explainers, founder content
YouTube — long-form video, IQS explainers, founder interviews
What You Will Own
- Develop and execute a unified content calendar across both the Lens brand and the founder's personal accounts
- Write, produce, and publish original content — copy, captions, scripts, and short-form video concepts — tailored to each platform's format and audience
- Build James's founder narrative across platforms: his origin story, the Lens thesis, and his perspective on media, technology, and information
- Engage with communities, respond to comments, and grow organic reach intentionally
- Track performance metrics and iterate — follower growth, reach, engagement rate, and content resonance
- Coordinate with the editorial and marketing teams to amplify published Lens articles and IQS milestones
- Identify and pitch collaboration, partnership, or cross-promotion opportunities that serve the brand's credibility positioning
- Stay current on platform algorithm changes, format trends, and the media intelligence/technology conversation
Who You Are
- You understand the difference between content that builds credibility and content that chases vanity metrics — and you default to the former
- You are a strong writer. Platform-native voice matters to you. You write differently for LinkedIn than for TikTok.
- You are comfortable in an early-stage environment where strategy and execution both fall to you
- You have a genuine interest in media, journalism, technology, or information integrity — this is not a neutral topic for you
- You are organized and self-managed: you can own a content calendar without being micromanaged
- You have experience or demonstrated ability managing multi-platform social presence — for a brand, organization, or individual
- Video production comfort is a plus; scripting and basic editing for short-form content is highly valued
- You are based in or willing to engage with the NYC ecosystem — some in-person coordination may be expected
Preferred (Not Required)
- Prior experience managing a founder or executive personal brand
- Familiarity with media, journalism, or fact-checking landscape
- Experience growing accounts from early stages (sub-5K followers to meaningful reach)
- Comfort with Canva, CapCut, or equivalent tools for lightweight visual/video production
- NYU affiliation or NYC media network connections
Why This Role
Lens is building the credibility infrastructure the information ecosystem doesn't yet have. You will be on the ground floor of a company that is defining a new category — and you will have genuine ownership over how it shows up in the world.
This is not a content mill role. The work is substantive, the mission is real, and the brand you build here will be visible and lasting. For a strong candidate, this role grows with the company.
How to Apply
Submit your application via Wellfound. Please include:
A brief note on why this role and why Lens
Links to social accounts or content you have managed or created (brand or personal)
Any writing samples that reflect your platform voice
We review applications on a rolling basis. Candidates who demonstrate initiative and genuine interest in the mission will move fastest.
