Backend & Infrastructure Lead (5+ Years) — Sweat Equity

Recofrend is building a hyper-personalized recommendation platform that helps people make better decisions across everyday choices.

We’ve launched our MVP and are now focused on scaling the product with real users and real data.

We’re looking for a backend engineer who enjoys solving real systems problems - not just building APIs.

You’ll work closely with our founding team on backend systems, infrastructure, and the data pipelines that power personalization.

What you’ll work on:

• Building and improving backend systems + APIs
• Infrastructure, deployments, and scaling
• Data pipelines powering personalization
• Performance, reliability, and system design

Tech stack (current direction):

Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, AWS Stack, Playwright(Optional)

We care more about strong engineering fundamentals than exact stack match.

This role is a fit if you:

• Have worked on production backend systems beyond basic CRUD apps
• Think in systems, scalability, and performance
• Are comfortable with ownership and hands-on execution
• Enjoy early-stage startup environments
