About the job

Fractional Head of Engineering → CTO at Seed
Allometry · Remote (Canada) · Fractional → Full-Time

Allometry is the account underwriting platform for asset-heavy operators. Each account gets a Pulse — a continuous rhythm of signals scoring every commercial decision against margin and enterprise value at the address level. ABM meets CPQ. The operating system for physical revenue.

4 design partners paying. $30K ARR run rate in month one. 20 more in pipeline. Raising $750K pre-seed, $250K committed, closing end of May.

The Role
We're looking for a fractional Head of Engineering to own the technical foundation of Allometry through pre-seed and convert to full-time CTO at seed close (~12 months).

This is not a "review PRs and advise" role. You'll be hands-on — hardening the architecture, building the integration layer, and making the platform ready to scale to 150 customers. The founder built the full product with Claude Code (50K lines in production, 16 modules, SOC II + WorkOS ready). It works, customers are paying, margin recovery is proven. You can rebuild what needs rebuilding — that's expected and welcome. But the product needs to stay solid and serving customers at month 12 while you're building properly to scale to 150. Your job is to own that balance.

Time commitment: 15-20 hours/week fractional → full-time at seed ($2.5M target, ~month 12).

Compensation: $5,000/month fractional + equity grant. Full-time CTO comp at seed (market salary + co-founder-level equity).

What You'll Own
Now (fractional, months 0-12):

Architecture review and hardening — the product works, make it bulletproof
API design and integration layer (ERP, CRM, FSM — no-rip-and-replace)
Infrastructure and deployment pipeline
Data model integrity as Pulse compounds across accounts and addresses
Security posture (SOC II compliance is in place, keep it there)
Technical diligence with investors — you'll be in the room
At seed (full-time CTO):

First engineering hires (2-3 ICs)
Platform scalability for 150 operators, thousands of addresses
Humanoid orchestration layer (Phase 4 — same API, different unit type)
Technical roadmap ownership
What We're Looking For
Must have:

Built and shipped enterprise B2B SaaS platforms — not just features, platforms
API-first architecture experience — you've designed integration layers that other systems build on
Comfortable in a 50K-line codebase from day one — you read code fast and form opinions faster
Experience at a company that went from early stage to real scale (Series A+)
Strong opinions on data modeling, especially for systems where the core entity is a location/address, not just an account record
Can context-switch between IC work and architecture decisions weekly
Strong signals:

Background at Shopify, Stripe, Coveo, Workleap, or similar — companies where platform engineering is the product
Experience with multi-tenant SaaS serving SMB/mid-market operators
Familiarity with field services, manufacturing, or deployment-heavy industries (you don't need deep domain expertise — the founder has that)
You've been a fractional or early-stage CTO before and know how to be high-leverage on limited hours
You care about the intersection of software and physical operations — not just another dashboard
Not a fit if:

You want to rewrite everything before understanding what customers need it to do today
You need a team under you to be productive
You're looking for a passive advisory role
You've only worked at large companies and haven't shipped in a <5 person environment
Why This Role
You're not joining a concept. The product is live. 47 jobs through the Pulse last month. 4 paying customers. Real margin recovery measured. You're joining a working system and making it institutional-grade.

You get the CTO seat. This isn't fractional-forever. The path to full-time CTO is explicit and funded at seed. You'll be the technical co-founder from day one of funded scale.

The founder built the product. You're not babysitting a non-technical CEO's outsourced codebase. The product was built with Claude Code — 500K lines written, rebuilt, chiseled to 50K in production. Rebuilding is on the table and expected. But you'll work with a founder who understands every decision in the codebase because he made them.

The category is real. Asset-heavy operators are a $7.5B addressable market running on spreadsheets and gut feel. ServiceTitan proved the category is $100B+. We're building the underwriting layer they missed.

The long game is infrastructure. The Pulse that underwrites a human technician today is the same system that routes a humanoid unit tomorrow. You'd be building the technical foundation for the operating system for physical revenue.

About the Founder
Ex-solo GP (backed B2B SaaS from inception to $100M+). CRO across $5M-$50M asset-heavy companies. Apple. Workleap. GardaWorld. Full-stack builder — shipped the entire platform solo. Architecture already validated by senior engineers at Shopify and Coveo.
