About ASPL Fusion

ASPL Fusion is building India's first Gas-Dynamic Trap (GDT) fusion device, requiring a high-field superconducting magnet system using REBCO HTS technology — the same technology enabling the next generation of compact fusion devices worldwide.

The Role

Design, build, and commission the REBCO HTS magnet system for ASPL Fusion's GDT device. The system requires 8-12 T central field using high-temperature superconducting (REBCO) coils in a mirror configuration.

What You Will Do

Design REBCO HTS coil geometry for GDT mirror configuration
Develop quench protection and detection systems
Design and specify cryogenic cooling systems (conduction-cooled or cryo-cooler based)
Procure REBCO tape and manage coil winding (in-house or vendor)
Commission magnet system and achieve target field strength
Monitor magnet performance during plasma operations

What You Bring

M.Tech/PhD in Cryogenics, Superconducting Magnet Engineering, or Applied Physics
Hands-on experience with HTS (REBCO/YBCO) magnet systems
Quench protection system design
Cryogenic system design (4K-77K operating range)
Bonus: Experience with fusion magnet systems (ITER, CFS, Tokamak Energy)
Bonus: REBCO tape characterisation and joint technology
