Full Stack Developer (Backend, Mobile or Software)

About Us

RentWorthy (www.rentworthy.us) is a rental platform, think DoorDash for items. We’re making it easier than ever for people to rent items from trusted businesses in their communities. We are looking for a motivated fullstack developer to join us in an equity-only capacity and help shape the next phase of the product and the codebase.

The Role

This role is intentionally flexible. We are open to junior through senior engineers, and to candidates who prefer backend, mobile, or full-stack work. What matters most is technical curiosity, ownership mindset, and a willingness to engage deeply with a real-world system that needs thoughtful improvement.

• The Technical Environment
• Backend: TypeScript / Node.js
• Database: MongoDB
• Infrastructure: Deployed on Heroku
• Mobile Client: Flutter (iOS and Android)

The existing system is functional but carries technical debt from early-stage development. A significant part of this role will involve refactoring and improving the architecture to support long-term scalability, maintainability, and developer velocity.

What You’ll Work On

• Enhancing and refactoring a TypeScript-based backend
• Designing and improving data models and API contracts
• Improving code quality, testability, and overall system architecture
• Working on the Flutter mobile client (if mobile or full-stack focused)
• Making pragmatic technical decisions in a small, fast-moving team
• Collaborating closely with product and business stakeholders

• Experience with Supabase, AWS, MongoDB.
• Experience with React, NodeJS, Next JS, JavaScript.
• Experience with NativeWind, Tailwind, Expo.
• Experience with REST APIs.
• Experience with Claude AI, Cursor, VS Code, etc.
• Prior startup experience
• Exposure to refactoring legacy systems or reducing technical debt
