About the job

Mission: Build the best, fastest, and most scalable vault experience for collectibles.

Northstar Metric: Time-to-Liquidity (Median + P90)

Summary:

We’re hiring a Senior Product Manager to own Alt’s Vault end-to-end — from the moment an item arrives at the vault to the moment it leaves. This role owns all internal vault workflows, tooling, SLAs, logistics, and activation paths that turn physical collectibles into liquid, revenue-generating inventory.

The Vault is a profitable, high-throughput business unit and a core growth engine for Alt. This PM is the GM of the Vault experience, responsible for ensuring the vault can scale volume, activate inventory faster, and deliver a world-class, AI-enabled experience across domestic and international customers.

This role has direct influence on the Vault P&L through speed, cost, quality, and inventory activation. While this role does not own the P&L outright, it materially shapes unit economics and growth. It will also play a central role in enabling future expansion opportunities.

This is a large, meaty role with real operational, technical, and business impact — ideal for a builder who wants to apply modern software and AI to a complex physical system.

Why This Role Exists:

Alt’s Vault now holds hundreds of millions of dollars of inventory and continues to grow rapidly. Functionally, the Vault operates like a high-end warehouse and 3PL business, layered with sophisticated internal software and marketplace integration.

Vault performance directly determines:

  • How fast customers get paid
  • How efficiently Alt operates at scale
  • How quickly inventory becomes live and monetized
  • Whether the business can grow without linear headcount growth

Today, too much of this system relies on manual coordination, tooling gaps, and founder involvement. We need a dedicated Product Manager to own the Vault as a system, professionalize workflows, introduce automation and AI-assisted tooling, and ensure the Vault can scale into a durable, standalone capability.

What You’ll Own:

1. End-to-End Vault Lifecycle

  • Own the full lifecycle of items from arrival at the vault to exit:
    • Receiving and ingest SLAs
    • Intake, processing, and internal routing
    • Exception handling and quality control
    • Outtake, shipping, and customer handoff
  • Define and enforce predictable, measurable SLAs at every stage.
  • Continuously identify bottlenecks and failure modes and remove them systematically.

2. International Shipping & Logistics

  • Own international shipping workflows, including customs, insurance, labeling, and carrier integrations.
  • Build scalable systems that support global customers with speed and reliability.
  • Reduce friction, delays, and risk in cross-border logistics.
  • Ensure shipping workflows are tightly integrated into vault SLAs and liquidity outcomes.

3. Internal Tools, Automation & AI

  • Own the roadmap for all internal Vault tools (Retool and beyond).
  • Design systems for queue management, prioritization, labeling, SLAs, and exception handling.
  • Actively experiment with AI agents, automation tools, and human-in-the-loop workflows to reduce manual work and variability.
  • Replace tribal knowledge and ad hoc coordination with durable, scalable software.

4. Inventory Activation & Liquidity

  • Partner cross-functionally (Pricing, Auctions, CX, Risk) to ensure vaulted inventory is listed, activated, and monetized quickly.
  • Reduce time between “in vault” and “live on marketplace.”
  • Unlock value from existing inventory through better tooling, workflows, and coordination.

5. Quality, Reliability & Trust

  • Define and manage error rates, rework, and exception taxonomy.
  • Ensure quality and customer trust scale with volume.
  • Maintain high standards for asset handling, insurance, and operational reliability.

6. Roadmap, Execution & Business Influence

  • Build and own the quarterly Vault roadmap tied directly to business outcomes.
  • Influence Vault unit economics through speed, tooling, automation, and process improvements.
  • Partner tightly with Ops, Engineering, Pricing, Marketplace, and CX to ship continuously.
  • Support exploration of future opportunities, including Vault-as-a-Service, without distracting from core execution.

Metrics You’ll Own:

Northstar Metric

Time-to-Liquidity (Median + P90)

KPIs

  • Ingest SLA and outtake SLA adherence
  • Cost per item processed (labor minutes, rework, fully loaded unit cost)
  • Throughput per FTE and items processed per week
  • Error and rework rate
  • Inventory activation rate (vaulted → live → sold)
  • Vault-related seller satisfaction / NPS

What Great Looks Like (6 Months)

  • Material reduction in median and P90 time-to-liquidity.
  • Clear, reliable SLAs across ingest, processing, and outtake.
  • A weekly Vault operating dashboard actively used by leadership.
  • 30–50% reduction in manual handoffs and exception-driven rework.
  • Faster activation of existing vault inventory into live listings.
  • A disciplined roadmap aligned across Ops, Engineering, and Marketplace.
  • A Vault operation that scales volume without linear headcount growth.

Who You Are:

You are a highly driven, systems-oriented Product Manager who is excited to apply modern software and AI tools to a real-world, physical operation.

You are scrappy, hungry, and motivated to grow a business unit, not just ship features.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5–8+ years of Product Management experience in operationally complex environments.
  • Strong intuition for warehouse, logistics, or 3PL-style businesses, including metrics like throughput, SLAs, cost per unit, rework, and capacity utilization.
  • Deep interest in AI-first workflows, including experimenting with AI agents, automation tools, and human-in-the-loop systems.
  • Experience translating messy, real-world processes into clean, scalable internal tools.
  • Comfort working closely with warehouse/ops teams and engineering teams.
  • Highly data-driven; you define success clearly and hold yourself accountable to outcomes.
  • Able to operate at both the tactical level (process details, edge cases) and the strategic level (roadmap, prioritization, business impact).

Bonus Experience

  • Experience with fulfillment centers, warehousing, logistics, or 3PL operations.
  • Exposure to international shipping, customs, insurance, or cross-border workflows.
  • Experience deploying automation or AI-assisted tooling in operational environments.
  • Familiarity with handling high-value physical assets at scale.

What You’ll Get From Us:

  • A seat at the table to help shape the future of Alt and the alternative asset space
  • Autonomy and ownership on projects that matter
  • $100/month work-from-home stipend
  • $200/month wellness stipend
  • WeWork office stipend
  • 401(k) retirement benefits
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Generous paid parental leave
  • Competitive healthcare benefits, including HSA, for you and your dependent(s)

Base salary range: $180,000 - $230,000, plus equity. Offers may vary based on experience, location, and other factors.
