Back End Engineer

We are looking for Backend Engineers to join our Product Engineering team. As a member of the core Engineering team, you would be focusing on our platform design and development, and would also get to work with exciting new research in the field of Machine Learning and Data Science. You would be responsible for driving the orchestration of our new product features and services, while also working towards ensuring that we are building a great platform based a solid foundation of strong technical practices.

We are looking for engineers who are comfortable with the NodeJS/TypeScript and wish to develop and hone their skills and experience by working in a challenging environment at a (fairly) early stage startup.

Our vision is to democratise AI by leveraging our expertise in the field of research, software development and product engineering - to build a platform that brings otherwise inaccessible deep tech for everyone to use.

Required Skills & Experience:
Proficiency in Node JS and Typescript.
In-depth knowledge of relational databases (MySQL/Postgres) and experience in writing optimized queries.
Familiarity with common AWS services.
Strong experience with git for source control and collaboration.
Working knowledge of RESTful APIs.
Experience with unit testing frameworks and test-driven development.
Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, or another equivalent scripting language).
Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
Functional knowledge of microservices.
Familiarity with Agile development workflows.
Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for clean, maintainable code.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain robust and scalable back-end services, APIs, and data pipelines.
Write clean, maintainable code in NodeJS / Typescript to support new features and improvements.
Manage and optimize relational databases to ensure high availability and performance.
Leverage AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda etc.) for deploying and managing back-end infrastructure.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement systems that meet product requirements.
Implement automated tests to ensure the reliability and quality of back-end systems.
Write crisp, functional documentation for code.
Contribute to the improvement of code quality and development processes.
Understand scalable system design principles and architecture.
Be comfortable with version control tools like git.
