ispace EUROPE, based in Luxembourg, is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Technical Specialist to join its Business Team.
ispace EUROPE is the Luxembourg-based entity of ispace inc., a leading global lunar exploration space company headquartered in Japan, with entities in Europe and the US. ispace provides lunar transportation services on spacecraft developed in both Japan and the US, lunar surface mobility through rovers developed in Luxembourg and data products and services from across our lunar platforms and operations. We are a small team, motivated by the challenges of the Lunar Frontier, and determined to achieve the company’s vision: to expand and sustain humanity’s presence in space by developing a lunar economy built on the resources available on the Moon!
Reporting to the ispace Europe Business Director, the Business Development Technical Specialist will provide specialist technical contribution to, and liaison in support of, business development activities to advance revenue generation in the Europe (including UK), Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. In this role, you will provide technical consultation to the EU Business Team, and liaise between ispace global technical teams and the EU Business Team, to advance revenue-generating opportunities. You will also manage your own revenue-generating opportunities through the full business development pipeline, from lead generation to contract negotiations and finalised sales agreement.
This role is well suited to an engineer who enjoys engaging with both technical and non-technical team members, and relishes complex problem solving. Lunar revenue-generating opportunities can come from across the spectrum of technologies, purposes, materials and operations – you will be an engineer who thrives in working with others to develop solutions to ever different challenges. In this role, you will coordinate technical solution development for proposals/tenders with technical teams from across ispace’s offices and write technical content for submissions, working with your Business Team colleagues to shape technical inputs in line with win strategies and value propositions. You will engage directly with customer technical representatives to understand requirements for lunar services or products, and provide expert consultation in statement of work and pricing development. You will represent ispace at international conferences and events, presenting on ispace missions and achievements, as well as proactively networking to identify new opportunities for sales and partnerhships, to advance ispace as a leading global lunar exploration company.
The position will be based in Luxembourg, on-site and will report to the EU Business Director. It will closely collaborate with ispace EUROPE’s other Business Team members as well as technical teams across ispace globally and business teams in ispace’s Japan and US offices.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
- Provide specialist technical consultation to the EU Business Team to support business development and sales activities.
- Act as liaison between EU Business Team and ispace global technical teams, and customer technical representatives, to understand technical requirements and develop solutions to enable delivery of ispace services or products to meet customer needs.
- Contribute to statement of work development and provide expert advice for pricing development.
- Manage revenue-generating opportunities through the business development pipeline, from lead generation to contract negotiation and final sales agreement.
- Coordinate technical solution development for proposals/tenders with technical teams from across ispace’s offices and write technical content for submissions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with ispace partners and customers, proactively investigating and identifying new opportunities to increase ispace revenue or advance ispace’s interests.
- Represent ispace at conferences and events, including presenting ispace plans and achievements to audiences.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor degree and above, in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics or electrical).
- 3 years+ experience in a space technical role, with mechanical design, systems engineering, assembly integration and test (AIT) or payload integration experience highly desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral, and highly adept at networking.
- Business development or sales experience highly desirable.
- Strong team work capability – proven capability to lead a team and to also contribute as a team member.
- Fluent in English, oral and written, as a working language. Additional languages such as French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese would be an advantage.
