Valory
Mission
Valory creates open-source software for co-owned AI, enabling joint operation and control of AI software for novel use cases in crypto, science, and enterprise. Our mission is to empower communities, organizations, and countries to co-own AI systems, starting with decentralized autonomous agents. Read more about our values.
Products
We co-founded Olas DAO and have created the first services using it and the Olas Stack.
We have also built a hosted platform for removing DevOps hassle from running said services: Propel.
Team
Valory is the VC-backed team of engineers, researchers and commercial executors that raised a successful Seed round and executed a successful public token launch for the Olas DAO.
The Role
You are a mid-level developer with experience with C, Rust, or another compiled language and are looking to move into Solidity. You have an understanding of blockchain technology and have experimented with Solidity. You are excited about building proficiency in Solidity, working with a cutting-edge team on the latest developments in blockchain technology and implementing best practices.
Main Duties
- Rapidly learn and contribute to Valory’s smart contract frameworks and applications, adding, maintaining and improving code components that are secure, efficient, effective and easily maintainable.
- Contribute to the cutting edge of cross-chain application development, advancing the emerging category of ‘autonomous services’ that combine on-chain and off-chain elements to bring autonomous agents to crypto.
- Write comprehensive tests to ensure code meets predefined requirements. Identify issues in the code and debug them to improve the service's functionality.
- Implement security best practices, collaborating closely with frontend, backend and product experts to deliver Valory’s cutting-edge products to market on time.
- Document your work thoroughly, provide feedback, including code reviews, seek and learn from others’ feedback, and support fellow team members to foster a collaborative work environment.
- Deliver to internal and external customers: you ensure you have implemented, coordinated, and communicated changes/fixes and checked that the customer is satisfied before considering a task done.
Requirements
- Ability to work in line with our values.
- 2+ years of experience in daily software engineering with familiarity working with languages and frameworks such as C and Rust - including knowledge of libraries, best practices (e.g. linting, auto-formatting, static analysis, etc.) and testing (unit, integration, end to end).
- Some knowledge of Solidity fundamentals.
- Experience with tools, practices, and programming patterns for ensuring software correctness.
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience taking projects end-to-end, from idea to live and adding value.
- Fluent in writing design documentation as well as participating in technical discussions and reviews synchronously and asynchronously.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate effectively within a distributed team.
- Bonus: Open-source and/or Web3 contributions.
- Strong preference for time zone between UTC -2 to UTC +6.
Equal opportunity
We are an equal opportunity workplace.
We want folks who add diversity on as many axes as possible to bring their expertise, encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply, and are committed to promoting equality of opportunity.
We prohibit discrimination or harassment based on protected characteristics (including gender, race, ethnicity, color, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability or marital status).
We also respect the wishes of individuals to protect their anonymity online and encourage individuals who operate under pseudonyms to apply.
The Opportunity
- Generous salary and options compensation, accounting for benefits.
- Remote (Valory is a fully distributed team from day one with biannual meetups).
- Be a part of a unique and novel project that will push web3 forward and be harnessed in whichever domain crypto goes – finance, media, data, identity.
- You will work on a unique software stack and product with a team of world-class software engineers, researchers, and product experts across multiple fields.
- You will collaborate with teams across crypto and our community of agent developers.
- You will redefine how developers build off-chain services in DeFi and long into web3’s future.
