About the job
Who we are:
We’re a startup dedicated to revolutionizing school schedules. Our platform helps educational institutions across the U.S. create optimal schedules for both teachers and students—automating the process, reducing conflicts, and making the most of every resource. The result? More time for learning, less time spent on logistics.
The role:
We are seeking a talented UI/UX Designer to lead the design efforts for our project. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in design principles, a passion for creating clean, user-centric interfaces, and the ability to articulate and implement designs that align with our product's vision.
Key responsibilities:
Design Development:
- Collaborate with marketing, product, and sales teams to understand goals and translate them into effective UI/UX solutions.
- Develop and maintain consistent design language across all assets to ensure a cohesive brand experience. Prototyping and Iteration:
- Create low- and high-fidelity prototypes to quickly communicate ideas and test design concepts.
- Iterate on designs based on feedback and data-driven insights to improve usability and engagement. User Experience Optimization:
- Ensure a seamless user experience by maintaining balance in spacing, alignment, and hierarchical structure of content.
- Utilize best practices in UI/UX to design layouts that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with stakeholders and developers to ensure that design concepts align with business goals and user needs.
- Effectively communicate design decisions and processes to non-design stakeholders, bridging the gap between design and business strategy.
Requirements:
- Must have good conversational English skills, enabling effective verbal and written communication in a variety of everyday and work-related situations
- Proven experience (1-3 years) in UI/UX design, particularly in B2B SaaS platforms.
- Strong foundation in design fundamentals:color theory, layout, grid systems, and visual hierarchy.
- Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or similar software.
- Experience with creating responsive web designs.
- Familiarity with design systems and UI libraries to streamline processes and ensure consistency is a plus.
- Understanding of front-end development principles is a plus (HTML, CSS, JavaScript knowledge can be useful in communicating with developers).
- Strong attention to detail, especially in areas like spacing, alignment, and typography.
- Creative problem-solver who can translate business objectives into compelling user interfaces.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of design projects from concept to completion.
Nice to have:
- Stay current with design trends, tools, and best practices to deliver cutting-edge visual solutions
- Familiarity with A/B testing for UI components, using data to drive design decisions.
Desired Work Schedule:
- Weekly Hours: Up to 40 hours, Monday through Friday
- This is a part-time, remote position with overlapping hours Pacific Standard Time (PST)
