Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President, Capital Markets will play a critical role in driving the company's financial strategy, capital raising efforts, and investor relations. This executive will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the financial strategy, project finance, tax equity, project investment, and structured finance for our battery energy storage development.

To be successful in this role, extensive direct experience in relevant tax equity and debt financings is required, with a deep network of existing relationships within the investment community to be able to execute financings at the best possible terms.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Works with senior executives to establish financial and strategic goals for the organization, including financing and investment strategies.
  • Negotiate and structure financing deals to ensure favorable terms and conditions for the company.
  • Spearhead company's efforts in project financing of battery projects, including overseeing debt, tax equity, and equity financing.
  • Develop new relationships and maintain existing relationships with third-party capital providers.
  • Represent the company in exploring new financing opportunities, including creative pre-construction and corporate financing structures.
  • Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction.
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of financial risk.
  • Construct and monitor reliable structured finance control systems.
  • Ensure structured finance activities comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential investors including the preparation and delivery of presentations, reports, and communications to the investment community.
  • Monitor capital markets, economic trends, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities and risks, providing strategic insights and recommendations based on market analysis.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Capital Markets team fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and manage financial risks associated with capital markets activities; including, implementing best practices for financial governance and risk management.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the CFO, CEO, SVP Project Development & Construction, and Board of Directors, to align capital markets strategies with the company’s overall business objectives.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in capital markets, investment banking, or M&A, with a significant portion spent in the renewable energy sector.
  • Deep understanding of financial instruments, capital markets, and financing structures with expertise in tax equity and debt financing transactions.
  • Proven track record of negotiating and structuring deals in the renewable energy space.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to inspire and manage a high-performing team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present to and engage with investors, financial institutions, and senior executives.
  • Strong network of contacts within the investment community and a proven track record of successful capital raising efforts.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
