The Role
Business Operations Lead
We are looking for a Business Operations Lead with 5+ years of experience to join our fast-growing team at Mesa. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on environment, enjoys tackling complex challenges, and can quickly adapt to new situations. You’ll be instrumental in building, optimizing, and scaling our business operations, enabling us to drive growth, efficiency, and success across the company.
How you’ll make an impact
- Operational Strategy & Optimization: Conduct deep-dive analyses into existing business processes, identify inefficiencies, and develop scalable solutions that optimize performance across various departments.
- Project Management & Execution: Lead cross-functional initiatives from conception to execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope. This may involve setting up new systems, automating workflows, or launching pilot programs.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze operational data to uncover trends, generate insights, and provide actionable recommendations that inform strategic business decisions. Implement KPIs to track success and continuously refine operational processes.
- Process Improvement: Design and implement streamlined processes that drive efficiency across the company. Develop SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to ensure consistency and scalability as the organization grows.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams including Product, Sales, Marketing, and Finance to ensure alignment on strategic goals. Proactively identify bottlenecks and opportunities for collaboration.
- Problem Solving & Troubleshooting: Serve as the go-to problem solver for various operational challenges, using creativity and critical thinking to develop solutions quickly and effectively.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison with key stakeholders (internal and external), building strong relationships to support Mesa’s growth initiatives. Manage communications, set expectations, and deliver results.
- Continuous Learning & Adaptation: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to drive innovation within our operations. Quickly learn new tools and methodologies to enhance your effectiveness in the role.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a business operations, project management, or generalist role, ideally within a high-growth startup or fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to “get stuff done”: Self-starter who can work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and thrive in ambiguity.
- Strong analytical skills: Ability to leverage data to drive decision-making, optimize processes, and measure success. Proficiency with tools like Excel, Google Sheets, and analytics platforms (e.g., Tableau, Looker).
- Operational expertise: Experience with implementing both technical solutions and manual processes that scale efficiently. Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills: Ability to convey complex ideas in simple terms, both in writing and verbally. Skilled at engaging with stakeholders across all levels.
- Adaptable & resilient: Comfortable with change and able to navigate the uncertainties of a growing organization.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Willingness to travel (within the US) as needed to support operational initiatives and build relationships with key partners.
- You have a degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity
- Best in class health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) plan
- Unlimited vacation policy
Location: We’re building our team in Austin, TX, Charlotte, NC, and New York, NY but are open to remote candidates.
