We are seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial Head of Sales to join our leadership team at baxtr, a SaaS startup focused on revolutionizing subscription pet care for independent veterinary clinics. You will be instrumental in building our sales organization from the ground up, driving business development, moving leads through the funnel, turning conversations into demos into paying customers. About the Role
This is a remote role within the United States, with occasional travel to conferences and company events. While living on the East Coast is not a requirement, the team operates on a 9am to 5pm ET M-F schedule, so it helps.
In this role, you’ll initially be paid 100% commission with rapid growth potential and OTE of about $100,000 in Year 2. Once the company reaches certain financial thresholds, you’ll be given the option to be paid on a base + commission structure.
Your compensation will also include equity, positioning you to benefit directly from baxtr’s success.
Responsibilities
- Own the entire sales cycle, from prospecting through negotiation and closing.
- Lead the sales function, creating and executing strategies to generate leads, convert those leads into demos, and ultimately into paying customers.
- Develop, manage, and nurture a pipeline of veterinary clinics, turning interest into engagement with the baxtr platform.
- Partner with the leadership team to define and refine go-to-market strategies and product-market fit.
- Work closely with marketing and customer success to ensure alignment between sales initiatives, lead generation efforts, and post-sales customer experience.
- Build relationships with potential customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and long-term loyalty.
Requirements
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth through direct sales
- High level of personal accountability and the ability to make decisions in uncertain environments
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset
- Experience building and scaling sales organizations
- 7+ years of sales experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, ideally within a SaaS or startup environment
- Reliable high-speed internet connection to support video meetings
- At least a moderate level of tech-savvy (we’re not teaching you how to use Google Docs)
- Passion for both technology and the veterinary industry
- Having taken your own pet to the veterinarian is a MAJOR plus

You are a self-starter. You enjoy engaging with the team virtually, don’t shy away from disagreements, and love brainstorming to come up with creative solutions. Ability to quote “Airplane!” is a big plus.
