About Underdose Co.
Underdose Co. is a health tech startup developing the Underdose Card, a cutting-edge, credit-card-sized device designed to detect fentanyl in recreational drugs. Our mission is to make harm reduction tools accessible, reliable, and discreet, empowering users to stay safe in their environments. We are looking for an innovative and detail-oriented Product Engineer to join our growing team and help bring the Underdose Card from prototype to production.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Product Engineer with expertise in product development, manufacturing processes, and prototyping to assist in the final stages of developing the Underdose Card. The ideal candidate will have experience in hardware design, prototyping, manufacturing optimization, and risk mitigation. You will be responsible for refining the design, coordinating with manufacturers, and ensuring the product is ready for small-batch production and scalability.
This is a contract position with milestone-based payments, and you will play a critical role in ensuring the product’s technical feasibility, reliability, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
- Prototype Development & Optimization
- Refine and optimize the current prototype of the Underdose Card for manufacturability, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
- 3D print and test multiple iterations to ensure design efficiency and functionality.
- Evaluate and mitigate risks related to design and functionality, ensuring user safety and ease of use.
Finalize the design for small-batch manufacturing.
Manufacturing Sourcing & Testing
Research, identify, and recommend manufacturers for key components (e.g., water component) and the final product.
Test samples from manufacturers and provide recommendations based on quality, cost, and lead times.
Communicate with manufacturers to ensure technical specifications align with production capabilities.
Small-Batch Production Setup
Oversee the transfer of design documents and technical specifications to selected manufacturers.
Coordinate with manufacturers for an initial small-batch production run, ensuring quality and reliability.
Testing & Validation
Validate the small-batch production units by testing their quality and functionality.
Document feedback and provide any necessary design modifications to ensure scalability.
Technical Documentation
Develop and finalize technical documentation, including schematics, material specifications, and manufacturing instructions for scaling production.
