About the job
Vio.com believes travel is the one thing that opens minds to new ideas, cultures, and ways of thinking. Our mission is to get every traveler the best accommodation deal, worldwide. From adventure travel and backpacking to honeymoons and family vacations, we genuinely care so that every traveler can make the best-informed accommodation choice at the absolute best conditions for every trip.
We are looking for Technical Lead to join our Engineering Platform squad, which is responsible for improving the software development lifecycle of our engineers, by building tooling, providing consultancy, supporting product teams and defining processes, which they use to develop features for our customers with more simplicity, scalability, reliability and security. As platform engineers, our objective is to build products to reduce the cognitive load of our engineers so they can focus on having more impact on our customers. Our tech stack is based on AWS, Terraform/Terragrunt, Datadog, GitHub, Kubernetes, Go and other similar technologies.
We work in a flexible, results-oriented, data-driven and customer-centric team structure, focusing on shipping value in a collaborative fashion, with hopefully just the right amount of bureaucracy. We encourage people from all ethnic groups, genders, sexuality, age, and abilities to apply. If this job description resonates with you, we want to hear from you!
What you will do:
Collaborate with the team's Product Manager and Engineering Manager to maintain the platform product roadmap.
Communicate with customers to understand their needs and to help drive the adoption of the platform product.
Design and review the architecture of platform features or products to ensure that simple, reliable, and easy-to-extend solutions are used.
Research and develop new architectures or technologies that represent quantitative improvements on the platform.
Establish processes and best practices that will make the engineers more effective.
Coach engineers on the team, helping them to grow and raising the bar on quality and technical excellence.
Maintain the team’s technical roadmap and manage technical debt.
Collaborate with other teams in the organization, acting as a consultant on infrastructure and developer experience decisions.
Present at demo sessions, guild meetings, or tech talks.
Who you are:
You have a strong background as a platform, DevOps or cloud engineer.
You have solid experience with IaC tools like Terraform, Pulumi or others, CI/CD frameworks like GitHub Actions, Jenkins or others, cloud providers like AWS, GCP or Azure, and monitoring tools like Datadog, Prometheus or others.
You have a proven track record architecting and leading complex technical solutions.
You have experience with backend software development and you feel comfortable using languages such as Go, Java, C# or similar.
You can identify technical opportunities in different domains, analyse their impact, justify their ROI and propose an actionable plan to achieve them.
You have excellent communication skills and a product oriented mindset.
You feel comfortable mentoring your colleagues and helping them grow their technical skills.
You have a sense of pragmatism, constantly finding the right balance between achieving technical excellence and delivering value to the end users.
You engage with your team and all the engineering group actively, sharing knowledge and best practices in order to improve with them every day.
Strong experience in AWS, Terraform/Terragrunt and Golang are a big plus
