Job Description

LearnWise.ai is a startup offering virtual assistants and student engagement solutions for higher education institutions. We are looking for an inspired and enthusiastic mid-level AI Engineer to join us in a full-time role.

You will have the chance to join a Venture capital-funded startup with expectations for exponential growth and work with our leadership as a member of our LearnWise pack. We encourage involvement, creativity and innovation for all team members including interns. You will have the freedom and expectation to develop and implement your own ideas.

What you’ll do:

*AI feature development (~60%): *

You’ll assist our existing team with implementing or improving features of our platform, including: improvements to the chat interface; adding support for voice interactions; sprinkling “magic” AI-based features where relevant to improve user experience

*Research work (~30%): *

Experimental work on improving the performance of the main chat experience, including: building a solid testing and observability platform for our models, running experiments to improve our RAG pipeline, fine-tuning and doing distillation to reduce latency & costs, etc.

*Random ad-hoc tasks and bug-fixes (10%): *

We’re a small startup, random stuff happens and we need to react to it.

Requirements:

• You are smart and love technology.
• You are fluent in English (spoken and written)
• You have solid back-end python skills (ideally FastAPI)
• You have at least one year of full-time work experience in a relevant position
• You have a ~ masters degree or equivalent background in a computational field with focus on ML/NLP.
• Self-driven, highly motivated, and passionate about improving higher education with technology.
