About the job
About Project J (Fy! and Trouva)
Project J's mission is to build the world's leading roll-up of consumer marketplace brands. We’re leveraging AI and our growth playbook to build delightful experiences for customers and suppliers allowing us to grow topline and profitability of the businesses we acquire.
We believe AI is going to transform how people discover and shop products and we’re the first mover globally in this $2tn market. We are an ambitious team of marketers, creators, designers, analysts and coders split between offices in London, Berlin and Zoom. We're backed by top European & US VCs and angels who've previously worked or invested in businesses such as Deliveroo, Thread, Instacart, SuperAwesome and ASOS to name a few.
We currently own two brands - Fy! and Trouva.
The role:
We’re looking for a technically savvy, growth focused performance marketing expert to lead all performance marketing at Fy! & Trouva.
The ideal candidate has worked in an experimentation-driven environment in a high growth scale up, eagerly embraces automation and technology to turbo-charge growth marketing efforts, and stays ahead of the curve with the latest marketing trends.
We expect a significant amount of growth to be driven by scaling and optimising existing performance marketing channels across both businesses as well as testing and launching new channels (e.g. Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube etc).
Reporting directly to the CEO / co-founder you’ll be responsible for leading that growth working with our brand, product, AI and engineering team.
You’ll have hit the ball out the park if, in the first 12 months we’ve:
- Grown our topline by at least 20% month on month
- Improved our blended cost per acquired customer and CM3
- Hired a small but excellent team of great growth marketeers
What you’ll be up to:
This highly entrepreneurial role will evolve but to give you a flavour here’s what you should expect to be working on:
- Build and lead a high-performing performance marketing function, fostering a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.
- Own all performance marketing acquisition channels for both our customers and suppliers. Optimise channel performance through data-driven insights, A/B testing, and strategic adjustments to maximize blended CM3 / ROAS by country and business.
- Continuously look for new growth opportunities and manage a backlog of initiatives, prioritizing based on potential impact and alignment with business goals.
- Work as part of a cross-functional growth squad with product, engineering and AI on to implement experiments that improve performance (e.g. AOV, conversion, repeat). We follow the classic 500 Startups / Sean Ellis / Reforge approach to growth across teams.
- Work with our brand / creative team to build the Fy! and Trouva’s brands in the UK, EU and US.
- Own all marketing reporting and analysis
- You’ll be part of the management team inputting into company and product strategy.
- Hire, manage and upskill a performance marketing team
Who are we looking for?
This role requires a diverse skill set but broadly:
- Significant growth experience within consumer marketplace or eCommerce business, from early-stage and beyond.
- Deep experience managing a £1 million+ monthly paid marketing budget, scaling multiple performance marketing channels including paid social, paid search, YouTube, CTV, and more.
- You’ve been running performance marketing campaigns on Meta or Google with a demonstrated ability to grow and optimise one of them at scale
- You love data, reporting and analysis and are comfortable in spreadsheets and, ideally, know how to use SQL and understand concepts such as LTV and churn analysis
- You understand “The Growth Process” and are systematic in testing, learning and running experiments with statistical rigour
- You’re empathetic and understand what makes customer’s tic
- You’ve got a strong bias to automatisation and understanding how to build a system using platform APIs - in an ideal world you’ve a strong skillset in coding or interest in learning how to.
- You’re ambitious and intently curious, you want to work across a broad set of marketing channels and disciplines - creative, Meta, SEO, Google, branding, mobile, email, mobile, conversion rate optimisation. This is not a role for someone who is looking to specialise in one particular area.
- You’ve hired and managed a team or have a strong ambition to do that.
Benefits:
- This is an unparalleled experience to work in one of Europe’s fastest growing, AI powered consumer brands whilst making a name for yourself. If we hit our objectives you’ll inevitably be one of the most sought after talents in growth in Europe.
- Impact and influence - you’ll be joining a small but high performance team in a key role. You’ll be able to have an immediate and high impact on the business.
- An incredible learning experience in building and scaling a global consumer brand. You’ll be working as part of a team who have over 50 years combined experience starting, scaling and exiting consumer businesses.
- Competitive salary and options - we’re thinking huge and hope it pays out for all.
