We are an innovative EdTech startup on a mission to drive play and physical engagement both in the classroom and at home. Our app leverages game-based learning to inspire creativity, teamwork, and active play in young learners. As we prepare for the next phase of growth, moving from beta to a full release, we are looking for a Lead Engineer to not only help enhance the app’s functionality but also guide our technical roadmap and strategy.
Role Overview
The Lead Engineer will play a dual role as both a hands-on front and back-end developer and a strategic leader responsible for co-leading the technical future of our product. In addition to executing the job description outlined below, we are seeking someone with the vision and experience to lead our long-term technical strategy, ensuring the app evolves with our ambitious goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership
- Act as the technical strategy lead, collaborating with the co-founders to set the product and technology direction.
- Lead and guide the development of a scalable, reliable technical roadmap that aligns with our company’s vision and objectives.
- Make key architectural decisions to future-proof the app and streamline the user experience.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies, tools, and platforms that can benefit the product's development.
Front-End Development
- Improve User Onboarding: Address inconsistencies to ensure a seamless, user-friendly onboarding experience.
- Streamline Game Creation: Optimize the game creation process by reducing the number of clicks required and making it more intuitive.
- Implement Feedback Mechanism: Design and develop an in-app system for capturing user feedback.
- Revamp User Interface: Lead the redesign of the app’s UI to make it more engaging and accessible.
- Optimize Authentication: Improve the user authentication process to enhance both usability and security.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience leading technical teams, ideally in a startup environment, with a collaborative approach to achieving team goals.
- Expertise in front-end development, with the ability to mentor and support the team (if needed) in building scalable, high-quality solutions.
- Strong understanding of UI/UX principles, with a focus on translating user needs into practical, team-driven solutions that enhance the overall product experience.
- Familiarity with API integration, and a willingness to work together with the team to quickly learn, implement, and optimize new technologies.
- Strategic mindset with a focus on aligning technical decisions to drive company-wide objectives, ensuring technical innovation supports broader business goals.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of fostering cross-functional teamwork, guiding peers, and creating an inclusive environment for problem-solving and innovation.
