About the job

About Us:
We are a health tech startup that has successfully secured our first customers and is actively working with early adopters to refine and scale our product. We are now looking for a dynamic, driven, and strategic Product Marketing and Commercialization Manager who is passionate about commercializing products, work on product presentation, ROI analysis and whitepapers, refine pricing strategy, and can help us build our go-to-market strategy as we transition from early adopters trials and champion sites to direct sales. As an early team member, this role offers a unique opportunity for growth, with potential to evolve into a senior leadership position as we scale.

Role Summary:
The Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for positioning our product in the market, developing commercialization strategies, define customer segmentation, build repeatable sales plays, and fostering alignment between sales, marketing, and product teams on high priority initiatives, as well as building a robust go-to-market (GTM) plan. You will work closely within business development, product, sales, and customer success teams to refine our messaging, identify target markets, and ensure that we are effectively communicating value to our customers. This role requires someone with experience in bringing innovative health and med tech products to market and driving their commercial success.

This position offers a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to influence the commercialization and market success of an emerging product while playing a key role in a startup’s growth journey. Initially, the role is a full-time contract position with a probationary period, performance-based bonuses, early stock options with certain vesting, and additional benefits tied to the company’s growth. The role requires approximately 10-20% travel to engage with early customers.

Key Responsibilities:
• Commercialization Strategy: Lead efforts to refine and execute strategies for bringing our product to market, including pricing, competitive analysis, and identifying potential revenue streams.
• Go-to-Market Planning: Develop and manage GTM strategies, including identifying target markets, crafting messaging, and aligning with sales and product teams to ensure market success.
• Market Positioning: Conduct research to deeply understand customer needs, market trends, and competitors to effectively position the product.
Product Differentiation: Highlight what sets the product apart from competitors to ensure it stands out in the market.
• Sales Enablement: Equip sales teams with materials (e.g., brochures, case studies, product demos) that clearly communicate product value and pricing strategies to potential customers.
• Customer Feedback Integration: Work closely with early adopters and customers to gather feedback, iterate on the product offering, and ensure the product-market fit is continually optimized.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product management, sales, and customer success to ensure alignment across product development and marketing strategies.
• Content Development: Develop product messaging and marketing collateral, including pitch decks, case studies, whitepapers, and web content.

• Customer Segmentation: Identify and define customer personas and segments to ensure tailored marketing efforts.
Analyze Market Trends: Conduct research to understand market dynamics, trends, and customer needs. This involves studying competitors, industry changes, and customer preferences.
Develop Buyer Personas: Create detailed profiles of ideal customers to inform marketing strategies and messaging.
Define Pricing Models: Develop pricing strategies that align with market demands, business objectives, and product value. This could include subscription models, tiered pricing, freemium models, or usage-based pricing.
• Competitive Pricing Analysis: Continuously monitor competitors’ pricing and positioning to ensure the product remains competitive while maximizing profitability.
• Price Testing and Adjustments: Work with cross-functional teams to test pricing models in the market and adjust based on customer feedback and business results.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: In Marketing, Business, Economics, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA) is a plus.
  • 5+ Years Experience: Proven experience in product marketing, go-to-market planning, and commercializing products, ideally in a startup or fast-paced environment.

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to leverage data and market insights to make informed decisions and optimize go-to-market strategies.
