UI/UX Designer

Sweep’s mission is to ensure that people stay safe, no matter how drastically technology changes, by placing the world's most advanced personal cyber expert—NERD (Networked Entity Resisting Dystopia)—in their palm and confronting America’s 400,000+ cyber talent shortage.

To make this happen, we're seeking a UI/UX Designer with a strong background in interaction design and a keen interest in artificial intelligence (AI) to join our team. You’ll design interfaces for NERD’s iOS applications, leveraging location-based interactions, advanced sensors, and Augmented Reality to detect, visualize, and mitigate cyber threats in real-time. This work is like building a revolutionary personal assistant—with all the technical challenges that entails—but this assistant must also understand the places people visit, anticipate threats, and provide real-time protection.

You’ll join our tight-knit team, backed by leading VCs such as Inspired Capital, Argon, Homebrew, and New North, at this exciting early stage, contributing to groundbreaking solutions that redefine cybersecurity for people on the move, ensuring their focus remains on their human experience without worrying about cyber threats.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with founders and engineers: Understand user needs, shape the product roadmap, and boost user engagement through seamless design.
• Bring Design Concepts to Life: Transform ideas into functional and engaging user experiences with motion-based interactions at their core.
• Develop and Maintain the Product’s Design System: Deliver pixel-perfect, accessible interfaces for iOS, web, and brand assets, ensuring scalability and consistency.
• Simplify Complex Interactions with Animation: Craft intuitive, real-time animations and microinteractions to enhance usability and engagement across all platforms.

Requirements

Must-Haves

• Design Expertise: Strong foundation in design thinking with the ability to empathize, define problems, and create thoughtful design flows.
• Motion Design: Experience in motion design and microinteractions, showcased in a portfolio, particularly for iOS.
• Design Systems Proficiency: Experience developing and maintaining scalable design systems in Figma with a keen eye for detail.
• Startup Mindset: Demonstrate grit, resilience, and independence in a fast-moving, early-stage environment.

Nice-to-Haves

• Animation Skills: Advanced skills in prototyping and designing complex interactions and animations in Figma. Proficiency in tools like Principle, ProtoPie, or After Effects, focusing on mobile performance.
• Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating expertise in Figma, interaction design, and motion graphics, with a focus on mobile applications and high-quality animations.
• AI & Cybersecurity Passion: Enthusiasm for the future of the open internet, the AI arms race, and its implications for democracy.

Bonus Points

• Augmented Reality: Familiarity with AR animation tools like ARKit, Reality Composer, and 3D animations for complex real-world interactions.
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of SwiftUI, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for high-fidelity prototyping and engineering collaboration.
• Technical Curiosity: Interest in IoT, BLE, WiFi, and the impact of ambient computing on user experiences.

Compensation

We offer a total compensation package including a base salary from $82,000 to $112,000 annually, plus stock options and other benefits.

Typical Interview Process

1. Introductions: Initial screening call to learn more about each other and discuss Sweep and the role. You’ll know where you stand at the end of the call.
2. Key Hiring Manager Interview: Interview with the hiring manager or a senior team member, including technical assessments.
3. Team Interviews: Technical interviews and deep-dives with team members, which may include a take-home challenge, presentation, or problem-solving exercise.
4. Final Stages: Reference checks, and a job offer conversation.
5. Additional Conversations: You may request additional conversations with team members you wish to meet but didn’t during the process.

This position is based in New York City, NY, at our newly established headquarters. While we offer flexibility on remote days, we strongly prefer the spark created by in-person collaboration.
