About the job
Opportunity
You’ll work on the Connector Builder, Marketplace, and enable excellent contributor experience for both Airbyte and community engineers. Connector Builder already enables thousands of Airbyte users to move data from their internal sources into data warehouses, databases, and vector DBs, and we’re just getting started. Think of it as Postman for data.
You’ll focus on the frontend pieces of Connector Builder, and the Marketplace, contribute to the Python connector development kit, and empower Airbyte API sources team, solutions engineering, and support engineering teams to use Builder to enable our community. You’ll help make Builder the best IDE for data connectors.
What You'll Do
- Build new features and improve existing features of Connector Builder and Marketplace, making it dramatically easier and cheaper to make, maintain, discover, and use connectors.
- Empower all teams at Airbyte to use Builder. Treat Builder as a startup in a startup, and other teams are your customers.
- Empower all users and community contributors to publish their connectors to the Marketplace.
- Relentlessly work on developer experience and infrastructure of Connector Builder. Build leverage for the team.
- Help shape Connector Builder, Marketplace, and Contributor Experience roadmaps.
- Engage with the open-source community via events, Slack, or pull requests.
- Improve engineering processes and documentation around the Extensibility team and beyond.
- Write high-leverage code.
- Mentor other engineers.
What You'll Need
- Expert knowledge of frontend technologies. Our frontend stack is Javascript and React.
- Experience with Python. Don’t have to be an expert, but have to not shy away from reading the code and building prototypes.
- Nice to have: knowledge and some experience with other programming languages. We’re using Java and Kotlin in the platform backend.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Experience building developer tools and/or B2B applications.
- Experience working directly with the users of your products, onboarding and supporting them.
- Experience leading an engineering team, leveling up other engineers around you, and supporting other teams in your organization.
- An insatiable desire to ship, relentlessly improving user experience.
- Ability to influence without authority and work with engineers junior and senior.
- A passion for continuous learning and improvement (both at a personal and team level).
