The Role

We're looking for a software engineer to help build the next iteration of our admissions platform. You'll be a hands-on individual contributor who also mentors other engineers and shapes technical direction. You'll work in a small, collaborative team where your decisions have a visible impact on the product and on the institutions and students who use it.

What you’ll do

• Design and build features across our full stack: Angular front end, Node.js/Express services, and MongoDB
• Build performant, well-designed APIs and data models
• Integrate LLM-based capabilities into the product, such as applicant assistance and document analysis, with attention to reliability, cost, and data privacy
• Improve our AWS infrastructure, deployment, and observability
• Strengthen quality through code review, automated testing, and CI/CD
• Mentor engineers and help set engineering standards and practices
• Work with implementation and support colleagues to understand client needs and fix root causes

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript, with production experience in Node.js, Express, Angular, and MongoDB
• Experience with AWS (S3, EC2) and Linux environments
• Solid understanding of system design, API design, and performance
• Experience with Git-based workflows and agile teams
• Practical use of AI coding tools, and the judgment to review AI-generated code as carefully as your own
• A track record of mentoring or leading others
• Clear written and spoken English for working with our New York team

Nice to have

Experience building features on LLM APIs (prompt design, structured outputs, evaluation)
Background in edtech or multi-tenant SaaS
