About the job
Who We Are
At Workmate Labs, we're building AI teammates and redefining the future of work. Today, knowledge workers spend as much time on administrative work as they do on their actual jobs. Our first Workmate is an AI Executive Assistant designed to address this universal challenge. By making human-level admin support 50x-100x cheaper and more accessible, we free people to focus on what matters most.
We are building a high craft, AI-first product. We take problems which have historically had human solutions and use a first principles approach to solving them with AI. This involves thinking deeply about human behavior, psychology, and interaction as well as state-of-the-art developments in AI.
We enjoy working with incredibly smart, driven people. We demand a high bar for talent, and want to work with people who raise that bar. This also applies to our partners, and we are fortunate to be backed by many of the best investors in the world (Seed raised in 2024).
Even though we're an early-stage startup, we offer top-of-market salary + equity compensation to work with the best of the best. We don’t want you to have to compromise too much or take a massive pay cut to be a part of something groundbreaking.
What You’ll Do
You will be responsible for solving the hardest AI problems on the team, often at the cutting edge of research where there often are no well-defined answers. We will depend on your expertise, judgement, and problem-solving abilities to set the pace. You will be trusted to make good product decisions and keep the end-user in mind.
You will lead our AI efforts end-to-end, from prototyping to production, balancing state-of-the-art AI with practical solutions that meet our users’ needs. You will build, test, evaluate, and iterate on AI models and systems to improve user outcomes.
You will stay at the forefront of AI research and experiment with new technologies, techniques, and methodologies. We are looking for your help to drive forward our understanding of advancements and foster a culture of continuous learning.
If you're driven by this challenge and want to redefine what work looks like in an AI world, we'd love to speak with you! Join us and work with world-class peers that have founded companies and built industry-leading products.
We want your help to solve these challenges:
Decision Making Under Uncertainty: Designing Workmates that can make decisions in uncertain situations, learning when to act independently and when to seek input from users, mirroring the nuanced decision-making process of a human colleague.
Personalization and Adaptation: Designing Workmates that can learn and adapt to individual user preferences, working style, and needs, providing support that becomes more intuitive with every interaction.
Context, Integration, and Interoperability: Ensuring Workmates can seamlessly integrate with a wide range of software, platforms, and workflows that professionals use daily, empowering Workmates to have the right context to execute a broad spectrum of tasks efficiently and accurately.
Who You Are
You're an experienced professional who is constantly looking for real engineering challenges to tackle and hard problems to solve. You want to own significant projects while working in small teams of highly-talented, passionate engineers. The prospect of building an AI product with human-level capabilities excites you. You expect excellence in everything, and you see your future self as a force multiplier (and not just a great engineer). You see challenge as opportunity, and you're looking to jump ahead of the pack in your career. You're applying to this role because you want the chance to build something at the cutting edge that could change the way we work forever.
