About the job

Life Cycle Assessment Engineer in ACT (part-time)

Hi there! You know you’re a great data analyst/LCA engineer. But do you have any idea how powerful you are with your skills and that you can use them to literally make this world a better place?

In ACT, we have developed a scalable mobile marketplace for sustainable grocery shopping, which will empower consumers to start shopping sustainably almost overnight with the ACT app, changing the direction of their combined purchasing power towards producers who respect the environment and treat their workers well.

Did that resonate with you? If so, keep reading!

What would be my role in ACT?

Engage in the development and optimization of our unique user-driven large scale distributed Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) system to increase accuracy of product sustainability assessment for the grocery industry.

Collaborate with our team to integrate LCA methodologies into the ACT rating system, providing consumers with real-time insights on product sustainability in the moment of purchase and even before.

Continuously refine and expand the LCA database and distributed data gathering system to encompass a broader range of products and industries and impacts.

Work in tandem with distributed researchers and analysts to validate data, ensuring our users receive accurate and actionable information.

Innovate and implement LCA methodologies for large scale distributed data gathering (crowdsourcing), setting ACT apart as a frontrunner in sustainable shopping solutions with the highest breadth (number of products) and depth (amount of data per product).

What skills do I need to accomplish this?

Here's a comprehensive list of potential skills required for a LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) Assessment Systems Engineer. Note that specific skills may vary based on the company's needs, the complexity of the products or services involved, and the specific goals of the LCA:

You should have:

A Master's degree in environmental engineering, environmental economics, environmental science, or a related field. A PhD in sustainability assessment would be valuable.

A minimum of 3-4 years of experience successfully implementing sustainability assessment initiatives and driving impactful projects with industry partners.

Exceptional expertise in Sustainability Assessment, specifically in the field of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

Excellent proficiency in utilizing commercial LCA software to generate comprehensive and insightful analyses.

Strong organizational skills, a multidisciplinary mindset, a tenacious problem-solving approach, and a remarkable ability to collaborate effectively in a team while also thriving independently.

It would be advantageous if you have proficiency in a programming language, preferably Python or similar, to enhance your analytical capabilities and drive innovation.

Why is working with ACT so great?

For countless reasons, but let’s just name three of them:

Joining our team at the beginning of a fascinating journey means you’d simply have a say in what we do and how we do it and take ownership.

At the same time, you will get constant support, working hand in hand with our diverse and competent team.

And above all, you’d play a crucial role in the emergence of (possibly) the only tool that can realistically impact the future of the food production industry and thus mitigate global warming and change the lives of millions for the better.

What am I your ideal LCA systems engineer?

Good collaboration skills in an international team

Disciplined and self-driven (it’s not easy to come back from work and work again!), honest and generally good-hearted as hell (...)

A team player building effective and fun relations with other people of diverse backgrounds, even when they’re on the other side of the Earth (or screen)

Enjoying remote work and flexibility of time and location

Fluent in English

Able to pay your bills and have a decent life with current stable job and devote about 10 hours per week to ACT project. For the first period we are paying in shares/equity and we are aiming for a salary paid in cash.

What is your gut telling you?

We know this offer may be peculiar and the no-money-yet aspect can be tough. We’ve all been there, and yet there we are around 20(!) people literally infected with ACT’s vision (we are now fairly close to launch of a pivot launch of backend and frontend, very interesing LCA challenges ahead). If your heart (or gut) tells you “I want to be the next ACTer, I want to have my share (metaphorically and literally!) in this world-changing project” there’s nothing left but send us an email to [email protected], tell us what your heart told you about working with ACT and share your skills and portfolio to prove that you not only want, but also can.

You cannot imagine how much we’re looking forward to meeting you :)

Cheers,
ACT Team
