The Opportunity
The engineering effectiveness team at Abnormal is in charge of critical tasks to improve engineering teams’ . These tasks include providing and supporting dev environments, setting up and providing guidance to other teams regarding the most effective CI/CD frameworks, managing our source control systems, setting up our building systems, etc.
We are looking for a critical member of the engineering effectiveness team. The new member would make significant contributions to the success of the team.

- Treat other engineers as your customers and provide them with the best customer services
What you’ll do:
You will be responsible for improving engineering productivity, including
- Time taken to set up the development environment for new engineers
- Time taken to have a local build
- # of bugs in the production environment
- % of failed deployments
- # of deployments per day
- Time taken to conduct a production deployment
Experience you’ll need:
- Experiences in dev environment setup for different engineering teams, such as frontend and platform teams. This includes setting up local source control, IDE, testing, debugging, build, container composition, etc.
- Experiences in CI/CD tools and frameworks, especially for different languages and frameworks, such as Python, GoLang, Javascript
- Experiences in source control management systems, branch management, such as GitHub or GitLab
- Experience with build tools (especially when used in conjunction with a monorepo), such as Bazel/Pants/Buck/etc.
- Experience operating and maintaining artifact repositories (e.g. Artifactory) and the associated build processes.
Nice to have:
- Experiences in dev environments setup for machine learning engineers.
- Code hygiene, such as lint, formatter
- Performance tools
- Capacity planning tools
- Docker image and build
