1. The retirement age in most countries remains around 60 years. Thus, many people today, retire from active work at 60 years of age and spend the next 20-30 years of their lives without much to do despite their wealth of skills and experience, which is currently not being tapped into. Many retirees want to continue contributing post-retirement but often don’t know where to look for relevant opportunities. Additionally, not staying engaged may seriously impact their mental health and general well-being - not having enough brain stimulation increases the rate of [cognitive decline as we get older](nia.nih.gov/health/cognitive-health-and-older-adults), which could lead to depression, dementia, and Alzheimer's. 2. On the other hand, there are several organizations (from well-established MNCs to new start-ups) that are looking for experts, mentors, coaches, advisors, professionals with niche skills, etc. but are unable to find them through traditional job boards. Leveraging search firms or headhunters in most cases is prohibitively costly! WisdomCircle fills this gap in the market by connecting retired professionals and organizations looking for experts in a pocket-friendly way. We are talking primarily of part-time gigs that range from a few months to a year or two, that accommodate people wanting to work 2-4 hours/day or 2-3 days/week, i.e. at a pace that suits them. We also have a dedicated team focusing on the retirees from the Armed Forces to help them find meaningful roles that suit their professional skills, beyond just administration or security. The skill sets of retirees from the Armed Forces are barely understood by the civilian world, and we want to change that to help our Faujis.
